I heard Gary White (the song writer) sing it at the Paramount in Austin years ago. He did a great job but joked that he wrote during a “serious” period.

I fell fully "IN LOVE" for the First Time with a beautiful, intelligent girl in the fall of 1969. Right before I left for USAF basic training in mid-Dec of 1969 she broke if off for other life ambitions and someone else. IT HURT! She coincidentally resembled Linda Ronstadt also. I so missed "that girl" everytime I heard Linda on the radio, or saw her on t.v. or an album cover. Then came this song in mid 1970. It took a Long Long Time to get over that girl. Life moved on but I still remember "that girl" even now 54 years later when seeing or hearing Linda. Except for my pen name "that girl" likely knows who it is. If so, Hello "Dianne", I hope life has brought you love and happiness. Since 1967 I'm still a lifelong fan of Linda Maria Ronstadt.

Was one of my Grandmother's favorite songs. She used to play it on the piano and sing it to us as kids. I hadn't heard for years till that scene in " The Last of Us." Made me weep.

One of my all time favorites.... entertainer and this song! Does anyone know how long ago she stopped recording? I know in 2013 she was diagnosed with some form of Parkinsons I think. I am assuming that was the last year she was able to sing or record.

In 2019 she was rediagnosed with PSP, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. It is incurable but some treatments for symptoms work temporarily. There needs to be a foundation researching this disease. Just think if the price of one war could be used in disease research.

She cut back in 2000, gave her last concert in 2009, stopped singing completely in 2011. She announced she had Parkinson's, rediagnosed as Progressive Nuclear Palsy, in 2013. Her two memoirs "Simple Dreams"2013 and " Feels Like Home"2022 are really good - give them a read. The Sound of My Voice 2019 - is a terrific award winning documentary about Linda's journey. Her pipes and musical chops were glorious. A very special songbird.

@@beauxlee3378You are likely correct. I thought the rediagnosis was 2019. Does not matter though, the most important thing is that her voice is TIMELESS and etched into life's soundtracks of many of us.
