Fishing can be an act capable of connecting us with nature and with our inner self, if you allow yourself to disconnect from your normal life while going fishing this experience can be deeply healing for the mind, and essential for us to see ourselves again as a humble inhabitant of this abundant nature that we have the privilege of contemplating. I love fishing.

As a lifetime fly fisherman and guide in oregon, you are correct, not many do what you do or can do what you do. This is a graduate school for fly fishers. And this is a masterclass in spot and stalk fly hunting. If i had more then two thumbs those would be up to 👍. A big part of fishing this way is having the right kind of place to fish like this! Never tell anyone where you are I have a spot 15 minutes from my house that i fish 2 or 3 times a year and the fish almost have names at this point. It so rare in the age of social media to have a place like that and i dont tell anyone about it. I dont name it, i dont post pics with that new crap that can find where your at, its just for me. And its truly a little slice of heaven. Im the only one who fishes the creek and the only one who knows what lives in there. And they go to 25-26 and the biggest was 9 lbs. So far......
@jensenflyfishing
@jensenflyfishing 4 күн бұрын
Hi, thank you for that. There's really nothing better in life than these moments and unbeknownst to most people they are far more commonly available (not this specific kind of creek, rather, the style of fishing and breakdown) than most think. Allowing time for a stream to unfold, show itself... as you know, it just shows when you allow it and then there's nothing better :) But it's great to have these little spots and yours sound right up our alley and ours right up yours :) The one thing I'll never understand is - the ppl that have to know exactly where you are or even what creek... literally every bank of every stream or river in Alberta has these fish and, more to the point, how is chasing another person's magic in any way, shape or form of value to me if I helicopter myself in just to have a photo with the next person's fish? How does that ever scratch the satisfactory itch? But, 95% do it. If we hear of where someone's magic happened we avoid it altogether or fish it when the opportunity arises to fish with that person. Even at that, once you know, you know, and the world gets a little bit smaller when you do. And knowing in a smaller world leaves less of it to dream about.

@jensenflyfishing
@jensenflyfishing 13 күн бұрын
@@FinclipRIP The truth is that people in the KZfaq audience are coming to the point where they are going to have to make a choice if they want their favorite channels to survive the long haul. In our case, we ask our audience to come over to our Patreon Channel to get the full, extended edits and to get the Producers' Notes that enhance each video -> for $5 a month we're hoping more people will come over and support our efforts, $10 if you want access to all our courses etc. www.patreon.com/jensenflyfishing Why? When you see channels like Trippin' On Trout disappear recently, others post less and less, all replaced with the next gen that try to get a channel rolling but after 1 to 3 years realize that the effort simply won't get anywhere - no sponsorships, no views to pay for the efforts, the massive time through the process, etc. When you see a channel like WildFly Productions with literally millions of views on some videos start on Patreon - it tells you how little $ there is on KZfaq and how much the work side of these videos is. Each of our videos takes a day or two of fishing, sometimes a day or two of travel, then 3 days from start of editing to completion of the upload process. 5 to 7 days of effort per video for $50 from KZfaq when tangible costs are 10 to 15X that? We're barely making any financial sense of it all to put this much effort into it. Truly, this channel is supported by those that support our Patreon channel, there is no doubt about that and we are incredibly grateful for that ongoing support. But the reality is that if we can't bump it to the next level of support by adding 50% more supporters to our Patreon in the coming year we'll have to consider life's equations - we're $1K a day guides and while being on the water together fishing, filming and hosting our media, we do often ask ourselves what the best mix for our lives is. Thus far we're committed here but we do need a lot more support to go beyond breaking even on life. As we say every year, we'll see how the future evolves!

If you don't wanna spook em just take about 3ft of braided dacron and glue one end to your fly line end best 9x5 Then super glue other end to say nice 5x tippet I used t use that brown glue comes in small jar at fly sop so guides don't hang up line smooth in n out It's impossible to "Splat a dry fly with braided dacron as the fly "Alights" every time no matter how bad you cast Unreal advantage 45 years flyfishing and my early mentor in Idaho theater great Kenny Mcgee taught me this Was one of my best kept secrets I quit year ago Why? Don't wanna hurt them anymore that hook is sharp Bye now from Oregon

That's good stuff. The hard thing to do online is reply to good comments that aren't really applicable given the difference of situations and conditions. The "splat" happens with EVERY single presented fly when examined at 300 frames per second video. Even the most delicate presentation that is delivered to a trout in flat, gin-clear water (ie, not just practice casting to be perfect but real-life scenario) is going to have quite an alarming "splat" when shot and reviewed. Add a dropper nymph with tungsten and it's incredible to see how much of a wave the "plop" of the smallest bead makes. Do that with a 9 - 12' leader with the required line speed to turn over on these fish? Nope. Ask any veteran New Zealand guide how the fish respond - they watch that every day as they host N American anglers that think it will work. Again, your method is sound of course, just not applicable here.
