Impressive work. Would love to this kind of level of detail for shoes that have a flexible sole, no heel, and room in the toe box for healthy toe splay.

Such beautiful craftsmanship !!!! Can I ask you something though? When you're making the inner liner, is it possible to double layer it and customize it to form your foot better? Can you make a bottom foot Mold by stepping in clay, harden, pouring cement in. Take the new form mold, then shaving the one extra layer of leather in you're insert and using a depth measure tool to make the perfect fit? You would save a fortune on the foam inserts they sell in the stores. Let me know. Thanks !!!! 😎👍🇨🇦

I'm curious what material did you use for the final casting of the last - been trying to figure out a material that would be possible to cast and would take a nail for years...

Wearing these shoes for extended periods could be a possible recipe for bunions, plantar faciosis/fasciitis, heel problems, calf muscle issues, knee pain, hip pain, back and neck pain problems and all the horrible things that happen when we wear pointy shoes with a heel.

Hi, could you please give a little more info about the process? What products/materials were used? It just shows you going through the motions without any info to explain that and I would greatly appreciate it. What was it you painted on to the sock? What was it you laid over that? How did you cut it off? What did you pour into the molds? What is that green stuff? How long did it take for stuff to set up? It would be nice if there was some info about what all of the products were at each step. Is there a website that lists it? And maybe some explanation of what is going on in each step might help. I would very much appreciate the information. Would the process be similar if making ankle/chelsea boots? The end result was very pretty.

I found this fascinating to watch. But I was wondering why the paper pattern could not have been made several steps earlier after the green stuff had been put on to the mould?

Зачем, зачем вы делаете такую форму ботинка - сужающуюся?! Ведь это уродует стопу! Стопа при ходьбе наоборот расширяется, расплющивается вширь! Какие же обувщики тупые, жестокие садисты

the way he makes the last is funny. using plaster, not that good of a technique, can break easily, plus it takes almost for ever. much better is wood, or in some cases, depends on the shape and size of the foot, hard fom would be a good choice. he didn`t take meaures of the foot. the result is good looking, but he could have made it also good fitting...

Can you share what material you poured into the plaster cast to create the final last? Thanks.

@alexandrefaure7247 Could I ask three things? Is the material you are using to build up the mold into a last shape just a different color of plaster, or is it some kind of clay? What is the black sealant you are using on the negative mold? Is this a rigid pu foam last? If so, do you have any recommendations for what to look for? I'm having difficulty finding info on what hard foams will work well for shoe lasts.

nothing i'll say below is 100% sure, it's just my guesses. I personally had great success using basic plaster for casting my last and then just dying some more plaster with food colouring for building on my cast, it's quite useful to differenciate your actual foot fro the additionnal matter you add to create the last shape, espacially when you dont want to sand off too much. So i guess thats what he does in the video. For the final cast, he said in an other comment it's an orthopedic expanding resin, but he can't give any ling because it's from a profesionnal shop. Usually, othopedic supply shops sell some rigid expanding polyurthane resin/foam with a very high density (about 400kg/m³). Unfotunately those shops sell only to licenced professionnals, so you'll have to find a friend that is willing to buy that for you. If you can't, you can look for rigid high density PU foam with similac caracteristics, but not labeled for this purpose. It's hard to find gigid foams with a density of 400kg/m, but you can find some with about 300kg/m density (for reference, you can start sticking nails and screws starting from 200km/m3 density, so i wouldn't go lower.) from france, here some websites (profesionnal and retail) if found selling those products. Pro : www.neut.fr/fr/materiaux-podo-orthese/product/mousse-polyurethane-expansee-composant-a.html www.e-podiatech.com/fr/accessoires-ateliers/199-632-podiarigide-expansee-pu-element-a.html#/202-bidon-1_kg Retail : feroca.com/fr/mousses-de-polyurethane/617-1352-easyfoam-300-mousse-rigide-de-polyurethane.html#/217-capacite_kits-kit_de_2_kg I dived into this subject a lot the past week, and i ordered the foam on the last link i put above (the feroca website). In about one to three weeks from now, i'll report to you if my attempt with the product was successful. For the black sealant, i'm less sure about what it is it but it's probably the release agent for the PU foam, so it's not really important which it is. It' could be some liquid release wax (which often comes in black), or a spray realease, that is found easily in crafts supply stores.
