It’s very time consuming doing videos and I think doing one a month works 😂. Great update guys have a super week (🤭 month), Ali 🌧️🇨🇦

What a lovely space you’ve created with the tunnel. I was smiling at you rolling up the excused in chunks of wood. You could have battened it on the outside of the frame, trapping the polythene between the batten and the frame. Would have been easier for you both. Great work. Looks fab

That’s the way we were going to do it originally but because we’ve made the door frames internal rather than external I wasn’t sure it would work (if that makes any sense whatsoever). Also most people I’ve seen who use the batten on the outside method tend to use a 4x4 post, use one batten to make a rebate then trap the polythene under another batten but we couldn’t do that the way we built it. We only saw the video of someone doing it the way we did it on the morning of putting the cover on but I really liked the idea of this method. It was just a bit harder than it looked on their video 😅 We’ve got another tunnel to put up on the other plot so we may use the other method over there. That won’t be built until March I don’t think so plenty of time to rethink 🙂

@@PatchofParadiseAllotment yes, we have rebate for it too. It was fiddly but really helped to get it tight. Your method has worked fine. When you do the next one, tighten around the ridge first (top of doors), then the sides and finally finish the door. That’s the way the instructions for our tunnel said to do it. Apparently it’s the key method to “drum tight”. You’ve really built yourselves a fabulous growing space. Can’t wait to see if full of crops in a few months. Exciting! Subbed to follow the journey of you both

That's a great size Polly. Glad to hear your no dig, it does save a lot of time and is best for soil health. 👌👍

Thanks Nick. Ben's mum put us onto no dig. I was going to say we're all about the soil health but that would be a complete lie, we both just hate digging! :) All the research people are doing on no dig is interesting though

@@PatchofParadiseAllotment if you have access to wood chips dump as much as possible to the clay areas Ur not growing in and in a few years it will be much better. 👌👍

@@nickthegardener.1120 We’re currently toying with the idea of this. I really like the grass on this plot but this time of year it just becomes mud. Also looking at path composting for certain areas on our ‘other plot’ to help with drainage over the long term. Getting hold of woodchip doesn’t seem to be as easy for us as other people find it for some reason. Ben

Thanks Nick, It’ll get done one day 😅 quite a few plan changes have happened over the last couple weeks and the weather hasn’t been right for getting the cover on. Hopefully next weekend we’ll get some more done on it. Ben
