Does the Line go as far as Floodwood?? Starting in the 1930's my Dad and his Brother and three Cousins use to Catch a Train near Albany. They put their Gear and two Canoes in the Baggage Car and then were let off at the Floodwood Train Crossing and then picked up again one or two weeks later. Our family tent camped at Floodwood for 25 years until DEC ruined it all.. And that dam paved road....

Oh what a great video! Thanks for taking us along for the ride. Beautiful country there. It was also great seeing the tour of the engine. Locomotives are my favorite part of a train. Looking forward to seeing Witold again

Does the train have a layover at Big Moose long enough to have lunch inside the restaurant?
@railroadingrambler21813 сағат бұрын
At one point, arrangements were made for passengers to detrain in Big Moose to have lunch but that opportunity ended a few years back.

A passenger did bring a service dog aboard, someone else mentioned he thought it was Witold on first glance. Perhaps I’ll fit him with an orange vest next time and bring him along, lol

Super video !!!!!! We had tickets last year but with those huge storms and wash-outs , we were unable to ride. We had planned on camping at Limekiln Lake, but ended up in motels in Old Forge. Still had a awesome time and had a good day at the water park (My Grandson's favorite thing to do) We are returning this August and the tickets are still good, so we hope for a fun ride on the ADK Railroad ! Nothing beats the Adirondacks !!!! Regards Bark-Eaters ......

That was some awesome old school railroading! That reminds me of watching loaded coal cars being retrieved from a coal tipple siding that dipped way down off the Chessie main line in West Prestonsburg Kentucky in the early 80s. Its long gone now and there aren't many scenes left like this.

An excellent weather day to start the season and I remember you mentioned they had to do track work due to some flooding but I will say that was a rather smooth ride. Between the remoteness and the summer Camp look on the homes plus the small rock cuts it was very reminiscent of the northern part of Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula. No Bitold for a warm day hopefully he didn't go on a one-man wrecking spree around the house

@@robertmason7553 I know. The Florida Railroad Museum has some smokey locos... I go there a couple times a year to ride an excursion. I went 2 weeks ago and everyone in the open air car was struggling, some moved to an enclosed car.

Thank you from York, England for this fascinating video - I can only imagine the work that must have gone into making it. Such a pity these trolley lines were so short lived, the 'soulless successor' is a poor substitute! Similar lines still exist in parts of Europe (albeit modernised) for example around Heidelberg in Germany and along the coast of Belgium, both worth a ride if you're ever able to.

I have owned 40 cars. 8 Trucks. 2 18 wheelers. flown planes and helicopters. Sailed boats and ships, I never ever want to drive a train. I driven heavy metal and that lacks easy control.

The engineer probably was in little league softball and the coaches play kept telling him "good eye. Steady. good eye" because he really didn't ease off. Passing this along to you and any viewer that might be interested in a nice presentation on the New York Ontario and Western. It even includes some slides from the last full run in color. Go to Wisconsin Chapter NRHS. April 2024 program NYO&W. There are also nice Sharp black and white pictures to supplement it
