Committing is key! Truthfully, the triples and finish line jumps are the easiest part of the track. Once you know the feelings and speed to hit them it’s second nature!

So how do riders know how fast to hit a jump without knowing their speed in real time. Is it just feel? Or gear
@TristanLaneMX
@TristanLaneMX 4 ай бұрын
Usually I can tell how fast to go by years of repetition, most of the jumps are standardized and consistently the same length at the races/practice tracks. Obviously there are many times when they are different and in that situation I just rely on muscle memory! Believe it or not, the jumping is usually the easiest part of riding/racing. Cornering takes the most skills.

30 with a scrub
@TristanLaneMX
@TristanLaneMX 4 ай бұрын
Good point. But I’d say this is more of a whip than a scrub. This particular jump would be tough to scrub off of because of how big it is and being right out of the corner. 🤙🏼 If I can get my corner speed faster maybe I can try to scrub it and see how fast that would be 👀

@@TristanLaneMX that's badass. My profile pic here is me and debo at the Oakland sx back in 2012. But yeah Austin is pretty cool alot bigger fella when he was in school. But Mitch owns turbo speed running he does the suspension for Jeff Walker. Him and Austin was real close. If you see him tell him Leland said what's up he will remember me. I was about his speed. They can and I expect do show you real speed not only horizontal, they need 3D fix to tell you where you are (4 for confidence) so they can & do tell you altitude, and can easily tell you vertical speed (I think it'd be an extra operation to tell you only horizontal anyway i.e. why bother).

I was wondering how guys get paid that aren’t “factory riders” do the top 20 guys make money, or does money come from sponsor. I’ve always been curious how privateers and the guys that don’t have full factory rides get paid to race. Can you maybe talk about it.
@TristanLaneMX
@TristanLaneMX 4 ай бұрын
That is a great question! Our sport is confusing in that sense compared to other sports. I’m simplifying this, but most privateer racers don’t earn a salary and have to earn their money by racing and sponsorships/ contingency programs. For example, if you have a pro license and sign up to race a supercross you have to qualify top 40 out of whoever signs up (usually around 60 riders total) to earn a paycheck and get to race in the night show. So even if you place dead last in the heat race and LCQ you would be paid but not as much as making the main event. If you are in the main event you can earn manufacture contingency on top of the base pay for your finishing position in the race. To help supplement my income I have per-round sponsorship opportunities for businesses and people with helmet wraps, bike graphics, etc. as well as selling t-shirts and hoodies to help with expenses. Like most professions, you always want more money but I’m very grateful to earn a living off my dirtbike. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching.
