Tyvm for the tip😅, I got locked out of my house and had to crawl through my dog 🐶 door to get into the house 🏡 and I had to go through some insulation that got exposed. I remembered cold 🥶 water helps to prevent it working into open pores but after a shower 🚿 I was still itching. Just tried the lint roller and Crossing 🤞 it helps. How do I wash my clothes which got exposed to fiberglass 😮??!?
@Doityourselfwithjoe5 сағат бұрын
I've never had a problem with my clothes after washing. However just in case i wash my clothes that we exposed to fiberglass by themselves.

Maybe also consider a shutoff valve installed above the check valve. That way for you or the next person needing to replace the check valve, they have a way to keep everything from falling back on them.

Thank you for this video. The little town that I live in has one small hardware store. I'm remodeling an old home for my wife and I to move into. Went in to our local store today looking for painter's putty, they didn't have it but I did see DAP 33 window glazing. I'll go back in the morning and get some. Closest big box hardware is over 50;miles away. Seriously, thank you for the info and for saving me a trip.

My lights, bathroom light keep going off and on and the kitchen, the one in bathroom bulb blew up, scared the bagebers out of me. Suggestions?
@Doityourselfwithjoe16 күн бұрын
Take the bulb out and look inside the light housing. There may be a square or round plastic looking object with a black wire going to it. That is a thermal fuse. One of two things may be happening. The thermal fuse may be bad or you are using bulbs that are getting to hot. If you are using bulbs with wattages higher than recommended, then it will over heat and cause the light fixture to shut off until the light cools down and turn back on. Hope this helps!

Just done a repair with similar. Cardboard is messy and absorbs.... I used a smooth old kitchen tile, dead easy to mix and clean for reuse. I also use flat candy sticks for small amounts, throw em away after use.
@Doityourselfwithjoe17 күн бұрын
I don't really like using cardboard but was all I had at the time. I use bondo a lot for filling dimples in hollow metal door frames. I'm a carpenter for my fulltime job. As for bondoing cars I might use a different product.

Can I use this same type of paint but from a spray can?
@Doityourselfwithjoe19 күн бұрын
Im sure you can. I've never tried that. The paint in a spray can is much thinner and may not fill the gap, so you may have to put several applications. Also because the spray can paint is not water soluble you will have to use some type of thinner to wipe it off. Possibly mineral spirits or lacquer thinner. If you do try it let me know how it works.

Great video. I was wondering if I could even use stranded wire for an outlet.
@Doityourselfwithjoe21 күн бұрын
There are other outlets available that are actually easier to use stranded wire on. When you loosen the screw there is a square like washer under the screw. Slide the stranded wire under the washer then tighten the screw. Looks like you gave me an idea for a new video! Thank you!
@louiswhite144520 күн бұрын
@Doityourselfwithjoe No, thank YOU. That's even better. I'm definitely going to look for those outlets for what I'm about to do. I need to install a couple of outlets on my roof overhang by some soffit vents where bare wire is because some motion lights were there, but my new motion lights are plug-in. I appreciate that.

I found the density of the Bondo filler and it is 1.14. grams per ml. The density of the hardener is 1.2 grams per ml. I got these from the 3M safety data sheets. So one fluid oz of filler is 29.57 ml and that is 33.71 grams. If you use 1.5% ratio then the hardener amount is .5 grams or .6 ml hardener. If you use the 2.5% ratio then you use .84 grams of hardener of about 1 ml. So this large can of 3.18 kg has a bottle of 78 grams of hardener. 3.18 kg is 3.625 litres and 78 grams of hardener is 93.6 ml . The volume ratio for the whole can is 93.6/3625 = 2.58 . So the % in the tube is 2.58. Many places say to use less 1.5 %. So this gives a ball park range in ml. and now you know how much ml is a 3 inch strip. To calculate that from the can directions. A 3 inch circle 1/2 inch thick is 115.82 ml or about 4 fluid oz. 115.82 ml filler is 132. grams and 2.58% of that is 3.406 grams of hardener. 3.4 grams of hardener is 3.4 /1.2 = 2.83 ml. The can could have just told you this. 2.83 ml hardener for the 3 inch circle that is 1/2 inch thick. So that is the starting point and you could use less hardener and find out how long the working time is, down to 1% or so. I have a lot of these little pneumatic push tubes that I can fill and measure exactly. Get them for ink cartridge refiling etc. I am going to try a 1% mixture and see how many minutes work time and completely harden time I get. Some places say you use more hardener in cold weather and that the filler get hard due to heat produced in the mix.
@jeffbguarinoАй бұрын
What is the ratio. No where can I find the amount of hardener to add. On the can they say to mix use a 3 inch circle 1/2 inch thick and add a three inch strip of hardener. This volume is 115.86 ml. My hardener did not come out as a strip and is liquid so I need to know the amount in ml. I mixed 1 once of bondo up with some hardener and it was too much and I wasted half of the mix. It would really be nice if they told you somewhere how much in ml so you don't have to guess and use up the tube and have to go and buy another tube. This is disgusting. If you knew the amount of hardener to put in , exactly you could put it in a pneumatic tube and squeeze out the exact amount. Then you would not run out of hardener and have to go to the store to buy another tube. It is absurd that they can't tell you the amounts in ml. They say it is 1.5 to 2.5 % by weight. This means I have to get out a scale and figure out the density so I can arrive at a volume measurement. I will have to do this myself and post the answer. It is for 3m Bondo 265C 3.18 kg and 78 grams of hardener. This gives you the mass ratio but not the volume.

Another option for securing the insulation, I use line set UV tape since my line gets a lot of exposure to the sun and the adhesive seam tends to fail in places over time. Available at big box stores, but common brand is ShurTape LS 300 UV-Resistant Line Set Tape. A bit pricey, but that insulation is important.

It might. If the notch went all the way through then it will not help. If the threads are nicked then you might want to check the rubber gasket. Water shouldn't be getting by the seal.
