I’ve watched this video probably once every 2 weeks for the past couple months. The philosophies fascinate me. I’d love to go off into the woods one day for a little while and find myself, but I’m not sure I ever will. The idea of finding myself, the experiences you talk about having on the walk and being able to come back and appreciating life just that little bit more are all utterly gorgeous, almost intoxicating… and yet, the idea of “finding myself” is terrifying to me. I don’t know who I am, but I know that if were to find myself,I would have to live the rest of my life as that person… And I can’t help but feel as though, I’ll undoubtedly be disappointed in who I find. This is a really sad comment, but I don’t I think I mean it to be. I just find it interesting that the one thing everyone seems to want, to know who they really are, is just as equally scary, as it is enthralling. Idk if this comment has any real meaning to it (I doubt it) but if you’re reading this and it does, I hope for you just as much as I do for myself, that sometime in the future we won’t find it quite so scary. Thank you for reading, this has been the nonsensical ramblings of a 17 year old. I hope you enjoyed.

There's time to do most things. We'll never be able to go to every place or experience everything, but most people live long enough to carry out most of what they want to do. I'm 15 and way too self assured but I think I've always known who I am and it disappoints me everyday, however we aren't linear. Parts of us shift and change all the time based on our experiences and our environment. We can shape who we are to an extent. There are some things you can't get rid of, for example I'm super confrontational and I wish I wasn't, but all the little behaviours and habits that make us us will change. When you find who you are, chances are that person will morph into something else a little while after. The point of existence isn't to chase ourselves, trying to definitively know who we are, but to enjoy ourselves. Our time is finite, but not short, so what is the point in thinking about whether you'd enjoy something. Just try it. If you don't enjoy it, you don't enjoy it. If you don't learn about yourself, you don't learn about yourself. What harm is there in trying. This probably just reads as a string of incomprehensible thoughts but I hope it maybe helps a little.

It's interesting to watch (I'll call it) "creative people" fall into despair because they believe they are not the best. Your story telling how you got the big sad because you realized you weren't going to be able to write as well (assuming I understood that bit correctly) as mentioned authors reminded me of a book I had to read at school 7 years ago. The book is called "Das Parfum" by Patrick Süskind, I read it in German, but chances are there is an English version of it. In short, it's about a boy whose passion is making perfumes who also at some point realized that he's not good enough for himself and then went to hide somewhere in the woods. But the whole book is pretty recommendable, it's about murder, and some crazy stuff (without spoilering anything).

I did a quick check, "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer" by Patrick Suskind is an English version of this book. Much recommended.
