My dad and I used to go spectate on the Father’s Day weekend vintage races, on the bleachers in the oak trees, but I don’t think Blackhawk allows spectators anymore. What a great track and event!!!

Cool! I'm working on a 1949 Frazer Manhattan right now.
@DavidKerr-xl3pf22 сағат бұрын
The Frazer Nash is one of the prewar Chain Gang Frazer Nashes. The Frazer Manhattan’s are pretty cool as well.
@RoyCousins13 сағат бұрын
Frazer Nash cars were originated in the 1920s by Archie Frazer-Nash in England. Frazer cars were built in the 1940s/50s by Kaiser-Frazer in Michigan. The car in the trailer has a narrow rear track. This is because there is no differential. Frazer Nash (like GN before them) used a set of chains (instead of gears) to transfer drive to a fixed rear axle. As both drive wheels rotate at the same speed, the car has to be slid around corners.

Bad luck with the Sprite Steve - but I have no doubt you will have it back up and running in no time. Amazing to see TS1 - the first TR... I have seen TS2 over here in the UK - I don't remember it being in such immaculate condition as TS1 is.

Interesting selection of cars. I have not seen a TR7 on a race track, only as Leyland sponsored rally cars. I went to school near Coventry and when the TR8 was under development, they used to drive past our school on their test loop. It was unusual to hear a V8 engine back then in England, so we were always excited when one came past the school gates.

Where did you get that piece thats forward of the shift lever that holds the main battery cutoff and other switches and gauges? I'm looking for something similar for my 59 bug eye.

I made it for all the rally cars we were working on, I think there are still three to four not designated for a car yet.

@@ThisWeekWithCarscan you share how you built it? I’m looking for something to house a pair of speakers and this would be perfect.

The Sprinzel Sebring did race so that was good. Just a shame she blew a head gasket but that is all part of the facing experience. Some great old cars there TR2 No. 1 now that is showing off! I just love the old Bentley, there is a company here in the UK that builds big racing engines for those and they seem to have good order books. There might even be somewhere in the USA that has engines for Bentley's. I am sure you will have the car fixed in no time so thanks for taking us along to this event Steve. 👍👍

Nothing beats BRG on those old British motor cars. Bentley looked like a man amongst boys! Steve, looking at your head gasket, wondering if replacement parts quality is the issue. I'm assuming the surfaces of both the block and head were machined flat before assembly, and you wouldn't have allowed it to overheat to the point of warping. Could the cause of failure be something as simple as not re-torquing the head after initial heat cycles? Hope you let us know the outcome on this little beauty. Also, a brief story about the origins of the Sprinzel Sebring and how it came into your hands would be much appreciated. As always, thanks for taking us along.
@ThisWeekWithCarsКүн бұрын
It was a crate engine built by someone else so who knows why it failed, I didn't even know what type of gasket was in it, but since I am doing the head gasket this time there will not be as many unknowns.

Depends on who you race with and what race it is. If it is a FIA race no, otherwise probably yes.

Yes they were built by two Germans, from Germany. They were built in the USA but they were built by Europeans, although I don’t know where they got their inspiration from. So they built a European car in the USA.🇺🇸🦅
