Dillon talks so much about Academic Exercises that honestly i think you should do an episode where he comes in dressed like a college literature professor, pipe in hand, and delivers some kind of lecture. Time to drop some knowledge on those of us who are spirit-unwise.

The Ceramics company, Wade Ceramics, that HP used for the 15 Year went out of business in December 2022, so if they wanted to bring this back, they would need to contract with a different company.

what is the best whisky pound for pound ?

Here in Liberal Onterrible Canada this lineup would cost us the gross national total of trillions of dollars so we're drinking freshie as a substitute, would rather try the whiskey but that's the way things go....ughhh.

Great DrinkThrough. Wish that I could find half of those bottles in my state. At least I can get the 18 year.

honestly cannot fathom how you can drink from 15 bottles and still be able to make sense of your tastebuds, much less make sense whatsoever

While I really like the new 18... in my market it is $350 canadian (the bottle I have was $210 bought around 3 years ago). The cask strength releases are much more affordable and more bang for my buck. I would love to try the 21, but it is $650 cdn.

Funny, I have a bottle of that 2000s 18yo open and I consider it far and away the best boring whisky I own. It's... tasty. It's fine. It does nothing to excite me. The Full Volume, on the other hand... I'll take any spares you have if you want to get rid of them.😆 I love that stuff. I think HP is maybe even better without the sherry, hands down a top-5 distillate in Scotland when you let it sing. FV to me was HP trying its hand at the kind of bottling you'll often find from the indies.

I have run across a couple Full Volumes near me. Still sub $100. Perhaps I need to go for a little drive 😅

@@javieracosta3439 If that profile's your jam, it's a great bottle. I do see them around now and again.
@javieracosta34399 сағат бұрын
@@jasoncoates1835 I would skew toward all ex-bourbon if the malt itself doesn't need to hide behind a sherry influence (not that there's anything wrong with that). Also in my area are the Glenlivet Nadurra dusties. 60%+ and 16 year minimum aged at around $90 are still incredible and overlooked bottles that I'm still happy to grab when I see them.
@teddyballgame2515 сағат бұрын
Fantastic video! As HP lovers you need to get the TE 18 at 46%. My brother got one for me at a military Dutu free for $150.

A lot of the whiskey that makes its way to IB's are contracts. Distillate is sold primarily to blenders on contract. When blenders don't need stocks (not necessarily because of flavor profile but because of projections and sales figures) these casks will get sold off. There are also some instances where distilleries will sell off old stock that might be low in proof (approaching 40%) or are off profile but that isn't a majority of the casks sold. For example, I've got a 27 year Glendronach based blended malt coming. Company didn't want it, it was part of the consolidation with BF. Instead of releasing it, they blended it with other malts from the company then sold it off to an IB. I also purchased a 5 year teaspooned Ardbeg that was originally sold new to Ian Macleod Distillers who has a ton of contracts for newmake for blends.

With some misconception, luck and whatever else my favourite 18yo (AnCnoc) won. It is just not trying to impress. It simply is tasty, enjoyable, cheap and fruity (not to extremes) and barley sweet good dram.

So when you guys are saying that it’s first fill bourbon barrels, does that mean that bourbon has not been put into it and you’re just using the barrel that would typically be used for bourbon? Or are you saying that is the first time it’s been filled by anything else, but the bourbon it was originally aged by?
