Using rebars would make the roads more durable, especially as it is difficult to prevent overloaded trucks from using the roads. Why does the Philippine government not apply international standards in their specs, especially on national highways? Concrete roads should last 40 to 60 years, but here in Mindanao the national highway barely lasted 20 years. Some local concrete roads barely last 6 months due to contractor incompetence, nepotism and corruption.

no wonder Philippines roads are full of cracks. they not reinforced by wire or steel mesh for added strength. you forget to mention one of the most important aspect of concrete road is the curing and must be be kept moist for few days for the concrete below to catch up to dry evenly. Haste makes waste.

STOP USING CONCRETE FOR GODS SAKE AND USE ASPHALT! Concrete is NOT GOOD IN RAINEY CLIMATES. Asphalt is and it is cheaper and faster to pour. It is smoother and is recyclable. It is easier to maintain and easier on the driver and the vehicle. These roads out here in the PI are terrible and it takes FOREVER TO POUR CONCRETE BY HAND. A S P H A L T I S B E T T E R. Get with the program and work smarter not harder.

Magandang Hapon Po! Maraming salamat sa inyong katanungan. Ang haba ng Tie (Deformed Bars) at Dowel Bars (Plain Round Bars) ay parehong 600mm. Pagdating naman sa bilang ng Tie at Dowel Bars ay mag dedepende sa magiging spacing nito halimbawa ang Tie Bar spacing ay 750mm, ibig sabihin sa isang span o block (4.5m) 4500mm/750mm= 6 pirasong Tie Bars ang magagamit. Gayun din naman para sa Dowel Bar depende sa magiging spacing, para malaman ang spacing base sa kapal ng pavement tignan ang DPWH DO 40 s2014 at DO 32 s2016. admin_jpp

Magandang hapon po. Salamat po sa inyong katanungan. Ang pinapakita sa video ay ang proseso ng pagagawa ng stone masonry and grouted riprap as slope protection. Stone masonry type of slope protection is highly recommended na gamitin at fill or cut sections. While grouted riprap ay ginagamit naman sa inclined cut slope sections. Nakasandal ang grouted riprap, samantalang nakatayo naman ang stone masonry. admin_jpp

Dahil ito ay maggng voids sa concrete. Ang voids ay nagpapahina sa strength or tibay ng concrete. sa kahit anng concreting kng my makita kaung bagay na dapat wala don bago buhusan tulad ng plastic, damo, etc dapat ito ay alisin o tanggalin

Para po sa Pay Item 104 - Embankment, ang mga nabubulok na materyal ay nakalista bilang "Unsuitable Materials," ayon sa Section 104.2.2 ng DPWH Standard Specifications for Highways Bridges and Airports 2013 Edition (Bluebook). Kapag hindi na alis ang mga ganitong kalseng materyales, kalaunan kapag nabulok ang mga ito, magkakaroon tayo ng mga "void spaces" o ampaw na magiging sanhi ng pagkawala ng suporta sa ating "Subbase" o maging ang kalsada mismo. admin_jpp

Magandang hapon po! Salamat po sa inyong katanungan. Prior to construction of embankment or "pagtatambak" , all necessary clearing and grubbing in that area shall have been performed. So if included in the scope of work covered in the contract, the removal of existing concrete the contractor must follow the indicated methodology and replaced with new materials as specified in the contract. Also, for information as per DWPH specification on Subgrade on Existing Pavement and if specified on the contract, the slab shall be broken into pieces with greatest dimension of not more than 500mm and the existing pavement material compacted, as directed by the Engineer. admin_jpp

Thank you for showing interest in our instructional video by leaving these questions. The mixture should produce workable concrete having a slump of between 40mm and 75mm if not vibrated or between 10mm and 40mm if vibrated. The Contractor must usually own and manage his own batching plant, complete with quality control testing equipment and technician. "They are free to outsource as long as they provide beam samples (to be cured and tested).
