This is the type of brick and mortar store that we all lament have been lost all over the country in past few decades. I’m lucky that Nicholas Smith Trains is only about 45 minutes from home. You can browse for hours with the sheer volume of inventory that they have. They also have a very friendly staff, competitive prices, and a revamped, modern website. Please support this store, as it’s as close to model railroading heaven as you can get. I hope it survives for at least another century.

I am not that old, but I will say its so freaking refreshing to see a young player in the hobby.

That is crazy. My grandmother was born in 1909 which would have made her 115! I've ordered two Vision Line boxcars and my Hobo boxcar from NSTs!

Me and my friend Mike absolutely would be at this store every weekend if it were closer to us where we live in northern New Jersey. Sadly there are no more hobby shops and or model railroad dealers in North Jersey anymore. Nicholas Smith is literally our favorite store to come to. Afterwards we always go down to Wildwood NJ to the boardwalk and sometimes check out the old remnants of the PRSL railroad lines.

The depleting coal load is awesome! What’s next for the industry? Moving cab figures?

Well, Pennsylvania certainly DOES have a vibrant model railroading culture, no doubt about it!
