You can just have a toggle to switch layouts in Windows or Mac to accomodate for different languages. On Mac, you can also press and hold a letter to see them, on Windows you can install PowerToys for similar functionality

I already shoot very smooth handheld footage, I’ve had a lot of practice getting smooth handheld shots. This feature will help me get the rest of the way there! Even though I have a gimbal, it’s nice to know I don’t need to bring it on every single run and gun shoot!

@ChristopherMichaelLaw2 ай бұрын
I'll have to get back to you with the songs - I'll need to dig the original files out. I should really keep a log of them. The mic is a Zoom H4n pro. Some times it's linked to a cheap lapel mic and other times I just talk straight into it.

@ChristopherMichaelLaw2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. The light is plenty bright and exposure is checked using false colour. The highlights are pulled down in the grade to around 75/80 ire on the waveform, this might be what you're picking up on. This is done simply because I feel it gives a more "cinematic" look (it's done in a lot of films) However I'm always tweaking and chancing up the grade because i like to try different things, so it may look brighter in the future. It's all just a personal preference.

Cheers so much 😊 Great tips and advice, I agree with them all ❤ However the filmic look also comes down to colour, white balance, lighting, panning speed, softness amount, and yes diffusion you reminded me of in the next video, layers ( including colours layered on top of each other, plus vintage lenses 😊❤

I would advise everyone against these kinds of mods. I was crazy enough to mod my previous 6k with the tilta mod and it was a terrible decision. This mod does looks amazing and I wish the OG design was closer to it but you might lose your camera in the process and trust me it's not a good feeling. Mine worked OK for 2 weeks and then the screen started having issues. Eventually the whole screen and the side buttons died. By the end the screen wouldn't even hold in place. It's not worth the risk.
@ChristopherMichaelLaw2 ай бұрын
Yeah, you really need to know what you're doing if you're going to attempt this sort of mod - it's beyond my skill level.

I encountered the same issue at the 2023 Chicago Air and Water Show when my camera refused to turn on. I later suspected it was due to a power overload or self-protection mechanism, particularly as it occurred while I was attaching my Sigma 100-400 lens. This lens might occasionally draw excessive current from the camera, triggering it to shut off. Fortunately, the camera mysteriously came back to life after about 15 minutes, just as I was texting my friends to tell them it had died. I haven't experienced any similar problems since then, but the incident did raise some concerns about the camera's reliability.
@ChristopherMichaelLaw2 ай бұрын
Yeah, it can be scary when your camera doesn't want to turn on. It's probably one of the few areas that Blackmagic have struggled with in their cameras - reliability. Hopefully it's something they will get better with as they gain more experience, but to be fair it can effect any camera brand. Red didn't have the best reputation either.

Great video. There's a few discrepancies with my training that confuse me a bit if you wouldn't mind clarifying. You refer to "shutter speed" multiple times while talking about what I was taught as "shutter angle". Is it possible this is a cultural difference as I'm in the USA? Also, you were particular about the 23.976 video frame rate not being a true 24 but didn't discuss television/video being 29.97 and not a true 30. My training was also back in 2000 and 2001 so things might be different now
@ChristopherMichaelLaw3 ай бұрын
Great questions. I think whether you use shutter angle or shutter speed will depend on your education background. People coming from, or taught by people, with a motion film background will use angle. People coming from a stills film background will use shutter speed. Both are probably outdated terms as they refer to a physical mechanical shutter. Modern video cameras don’t have physical shutters anymore, with a few exceptions. A better term would be something like exposure time. I assume most viewers watching my videos are shooting with DSLRs, Hybrid mirrorless cameras where it’s more common to use the stills photography terminology. (but even that can be different between brands). Shutter angle is used in digital cinema cameras, although Sony still doesn’t always use it (fx30, fx3). I don’t know why I didn’t mention 30p not being a true 30fps. I may have had a good reason at the time, or simply forgot, I can’t remember. Most video cameras rounded 29.97fps to 30p in my experience so maybe I thought it wasn’t something people would encounter, in PAL land it’s not a frame rate we deal with much - and I’m happy about that.

I personally use an ssd if there is an option and never sd cards, if your route it the right way it never catches, it's a cinema camera so you shoot for a long time so an ssd and a v mount battery are no brainers, i shoot raw 4k and then you can do a lot more in edit

I’m considering buying one. Have an S5 ii x which can do BRAW external but needs a monitor and the rolling shutter is atrocious and can’t be corrected like BM can using gyro. How do you find the NDs in bright sunlight? Presumably even the 6 isn’t going to be enough stops if you’re shooting wide open. Do you find you still need to add an ND from time to time?
