Thanks for this post. When Ricky first came back I was ready to welcome him back but wasn’t mentally ready to support him winning. A few years later, I’m a huge Ricky fan. Hope to see him take the win in 2025!!

Ricky said he’d lose his shit if it was his brother. He said there were not enough lifeguards out there to save him. We all need to put ourselves in the position of being Lazar’s brother. This horrific tragedy requires full accountability and culpability. Lazar was failed!

Broadcast got to Ricky before medical team. Judge doesn't instantly call a medic. He carries on and is an absolute trooper. But there should have been one medic near him for the rest of the event. Just as a show of awareness by HQ at least.

I’ve really disliked Ricky over the years. But the more we get to see of him behind the scenes, the more that falls away. You did a great job on this, Peter. I would like to say that I’m going to call the language Ricky speaks Mumblestralian. Makes me laugh.

I wish people would drop the nth “fittest on earth”. It’s CrossFit. He got 2nd at the CrossFit games. It’s enough to just say “2nd place at the CrossFit Games”. Not trying to be a hater. He sounds like a great dude and he’s awesome at CrossFit. And good podcast interview.

Too bad Dallin didn’t win. He holds himself up well as a grounded champion of the people. Sprague was saying some really tone-deaf and self serving perspectives during his celebrations.
@CoffeePodsAndWods
@CoffeePodsAndWods 8 күн бұрын
I don’t agree with self serving, at all. I can see how some wouldn’t like to see him celebrating winning the biggest event of his career and in the entire sport but he had just won the biggest event of his career and in the entire sport so, humbly, he can say and do as he pleases and shouldn’t be policed for his response

@@CoffeePodsAndWods touché. I’ll retract my statement the more I’ve listened to more post comp interviews of sprague. He has a good heart. I’ll give respect to his bold Christianity but in the moment to say Lazar’s death was “part of a plan,” i.e, James’ plan, wasn’t great for the moment.

Great interview, as always. I do disagree with you when you say you have nothing of value to add -- I think a roundtable with someone from CrossFit and someone from the PFAA about where the company should go would be incredibly valuable. Speaking as someone who loves watching the sport, I would hope they would explore ways of sharing more power and access to the athletes, especially with regard to event details, standards, etc. Something needs to change

It would have been cool to hear Don actually answer a single question. Every single one he took the general topic and just rambled and was very defensive in a non aggressive hr safe way. Overall a super frustrating interview to listen to - coming from someone with experience in corp bis culture and isn’t normally bothered by “legally safe response” or translating corp speak back to human
