Great video but you may confuse the general public with the concept explained at minute 3:39. My take is that double interlock is what it is... no water in the system until 2 interlocks are engaged.

A strange dry system😳 What are those two valves above dry valves for 😳?
@briancook9579 Жыл бұрын
That is so you can trip the Valve without flooding the System, you would close those valves above the dry valve then trip the valve. Water would only go to that point. You see this application with pre action systems where they protect very expensive equipment and don’t want to flood the System when they are doing there 3-year full trip test

Is it required to repeat the test at each floor level (the control valve assembly has also a connection to the drain)?
@paccbutler18262 жыл бұрын
The main drain test, is a system's test. You cannot perform this test per floor
@TheGardista2 жыл бұрын
That 4” backflow device is installed 4-6” above the floor. A plumbing code is minimum 12” from the floor. Also, that FDC line definitely requires two check valves. An air compressor is placed on the floor , what is unacceptable.

look online NICET training and certification. There is another certification program out there similar to NICET and it becoming widely accepted as the standard just like NICET. Can't remember the name of it, at this very moment.

You are confusing a single interlock and a double interlock preaction system. The "specialized dry valve" is a deluge valve. You're putting out bad info...

That call to the alarm company was fake .. he never hit the tampers and the main drain was below the flow switch he never tripped any horns you could flow that drain all day and the fire department would never respond... wish I had ten accounts just like that lol

Interesting remark. is the water flow alarm supposed to be positioned before the drain? I thought that the inpector test connection was after the flow alarm, not the main drain.
@paccbutler18262 жыл бұрын
@@cmarname The flow switches are located (in different areas) after the main drain. The main drain test is upstream of any flow switches. Typically, this should not trigger them. The inspectors test is located (usually near the end-of-the-line) at the end of the system. When the inspector's test is performed, a flow switch will detect flow, send a notification, and will trigger the alarm.

@@paccbutler1826 I was flustered. It makes sense that the water comes upward and never hits the water flow switch so no alarm.

Where I work has a similar system but something is diff cuz the gauges above always show 0 psi despite having a connection to a lil compressor. My question is what the he'll is keeping back the 150 psi water pressure that is below the valve in the system at my job? There is signage stating for action and wet system below a big valve that says Reliable Model EX Deluge valve

If a sprinkler head is damaged (no fire) and the air is let out, what stops the water from coming out the damaged head? There is no air holding the valve closed anymore. Can you explain that?

I think this one shows more specifically how that works kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jK55daqBy5a5aYk.html

In double interlock. If sprinkler brust water will not get into the piping network.. Actually it requires electric detection signal to open the solenoid valve. Than only the preaction valve will open.. Hope i am right. If i am wrong, please advise the correct operation.

Does a building owner have to periodically test the flow switch like on a wet system? How would you do this without tripping the dry system?
@malcolmdown91703 жыл бұрын
The dry side has no flow switch. But it does have a pressure switch which will operate from flowing water from the test drain. This will ring the water motor alarm bell and activate the pressure switch to raise an alarm.
@briancook9579 Жыл бұрын
Dry Systems use a pressure switch in which you can test on the alarm line trim without tripping the system
@achanceman4 жыл бұрын
You need two spares heads for every head installed in the building. You can also disable the horns on the fire panel prior to running water.

If the heat/smoke opens the valve and allows water to flood the system, then it is single interlock.
@josiahsvoboda61174 жыл бұрын
Yes that’s correct. The air pressure in the field pipe is to monitor for any leaks. If you get a low air supervisory only the system will not trip, unless it’s coupled with a smoke/heat head to energize solenoid and dump the priming water. This is for coverage of areas you don’t want getting wet or having false trips at all costs. Once the air leak is detected the pipe can be repaired and you don’t damage any of the equipment that is being covered. If the system dumps on only one of these inputs alone it pretty much is defeating the purpose of the PreAc.
