Death? Home… IS where the heart is, whether it’s a mansion, apartment or hotel just like in this video. What makes a “house” a “home” is what you make it. A house is just a building where you live and a home is where you feel like you belong. Everyday life happens good and bad just like in this video from all walks. The observer (death, alien, angel) is experiencing different people’s home (motel), a place where they feel they belong with whomever they are with. Life happens and what you make of it is up to you.

I just want to give him a hug. he is so broken, and no one knew. no one took the time to care, and it contributed to his death. TBI, paula and bob causing turmoil, touring when his doctors said not to bandmates he no longer was close to, dwindling popularity, insecurity, self medicating, and all while still trying to be the frontman of a band he no longer wanted to be in, my poor michael. it breaks my heart, breaks it. how I wish it could have been different for him.

I miss michael like he was someone I knew personally. god, when I think what else he could have done, solo, in films, with ollie for max Q, or with inxs if he wanted. I feel he would have only gotten better with time as EW was my favorite album from them, and his writing is unmatched, god, god how I miss him, how I love him.

I’m pretty sure it’s basic on addiction. He can beat it no matter what it costs him. He’s tried everything and they force him into rehab. He knows it isn’t going to work so he ends it. I believe the sea and dolphin are the end.

I just want to add my 5 cents... Depeche Mode have always made songs that were way ahead of their time. These are songs from the 80's and 90's, and you would think they are new listening to them in the present.

So far the songs that I've watched you reacting were written by Martin Gore. This one however, was written by Dave Gahan, the lead singer. In one of your reactions you said that you became a fan because you don't know what to expect. That is very true... I've been a huge fan of DM since 1987 and even I can't predict what I should expect when they are about to release something new. Unlike most other bands that fall into a genre, DM is like a variety of their own genres. Music stores back in the days actually had a hard time getting it right when they placed DM on their shelves. It was sometimes in the rock section, sometimes in the pop section, etc... 😅

I just want to point out something because I hear you keep saying "him", "his", "he". Depeche Mode is a band, 😁😉 during the time this song was released, theybwere 4 of them. Of course, most songs are written by Martin Gore, that's the blonde funky hair guy in this video, the guy singing "Understand Me..."

This song is even better fitting to the present times, even though it was released almost 40 years ago in 1986. To understand what "Let me see you stripped down to the bone", I think you need to read the entire song lyrics. One line example is "Let me hear you make decisions, without your television, let me hear you speaking just for me". Stripped means, Not Fake, Real, Pure... So basically, don't be a fake following what TV tell and other media tells you, be yourself, STRIPPED down to the bone... 😉

So being that this was posted 3 years ago, I'm sure someone has already described this here, but I will give my take on it as well. The singer Dave Gahan went through a rough time with drugs and suicidal attempts. He fell so deep into that drug addiction that he overdosed a couple of times and he also slashed his wrist once, the paramedics had to revive him. After that almost tragic incident, his friends and family intervened and he was sentenced to some time in rehab. Fortunately, he suevived that rough time and recovered, after which the album ULTRA was released, this song "Barrel of a Gun" being the first track on it. To me, this song and video sort of describes that rough patch in his life. Although, it wasn't him who wrote it, it was Martin Gore, the main songwriter.

And btw... You said at the end that you haven't watched videos about death before. Depeche Mode's latest album is entirely about death. 😉 It is called "Memento Mori"

Don't beat yourself up for struggling to understand the message of the song and video. With Depeche Mode, it is expected... 😉 This is my favorite band since I was a child, about 7 years old, trust me I still don't know the real messages behind their songs. The true messages of Depeche Mode songs are actually to each their own. The way Martin Gore (writer of most their songs, and singer on this particular song) writes his songs is so that everyone can sort of interpret them in their own way. He himself acknowledged that fact. You should check out more of their many songs. Although, just keep in mind, the actual singer of most their songs is Dave Gahan, the guy in this video with the black hair. btw... Thanks for this reaction.

Frankly comparing the Osmond Brothers to the Jackson Five is not really fair the Osmond Brothers preformed all types of music while the Jackson’s only did Motown music. I suggest to listen to to their albums Crazy Horses and Phase II. You will see and heard the difference.

Gutes Duell, wie Lamborghini gegen Ferrari 🙂 Beide hervorragend und beide haben viele Fans. Freddy was great and his performance was always perfect. But Steve is the better singer for me, his vocal range is unmatched and his charisma and stage presence are absolutely brilliant. Steve, the voice, the best for me

Hi! I'm just now seeing this, but just wanted to let ya know there's a very good reason why this particular song brought the J5 to mind. This song was written for the J5, but they turned it down. You're exactly right, it sounds like the J5. Little Donny Osmond and MJ had very similar voices back in the day, and both families' bands were very popular! However, the rest of the Osmonds catalog doesn't sound like the Jacksons, their songs sound like pop songs and as you probably already discovered, they did some experimental rock music too. There's a really cute video of Donny and Michael together when they were little presenting an award together at an awards show. It was adorable! I hope you can react to Donny Osmond when he's all grown up in the 80s, singing 2 of his hits "Sacred Emotion" (my favorite) and "Soldier of Love"!
