The door guardian has really high armor rating compared to other bosses. Other maxed out weapons also do little damage to him. For this boss, you're actually supposed to chop one of his legs down (since you can choose to target the torso or legs) and then do fatal attacks on him when he falls. The uploader decided to take on the boss directly instead, which is why the video title is called "sword practice."
