I once lived in the 900 building in Verano Place - it was a cockroach infested Hell hole. Management did nothing about it and my wife and I resorted to setting off bug bombs. Several hours later, my wife vacuumed three bags full of dead and dying cockroaches.

I lived in Verano Place with my (ex) wife and child from 1976 - 1978 when I graduated. It was a cockroach invested hell hole. Management refused to fumigate the building because other tenants in the building, while agreeing that it was a problem, they didn't want to go through the hassle of having the building fumigated. So we bought some bug bombs and set them off in our apartment. A couple of hours later the floor and countertops were covered with dead and dying bugs. My ex filled two vacuum cleaner bags with cockroaches! Year later (2008), while visiting So. Cal. on business, I visited the UCI campus and found the same Verano Place building we lived in all those years ago - it's still there! And I'm sure it is still a roach hotel. Living in Verano Place was my biggest regret going to UCI.
