Great reviews! Thank you. We have a special needs daughter that is targeted by online predators constantly. This last one has taken control over all her social media accounts and created new ones that she has no control over. Hopefully this will help keep this from happening again.

I got scammed from delete me because it was advertised as a monthly payment, however I was charged for the whole year upfront. I think that’s kind of scummy to do to customers. I then called to dispute the charges and the number listed on the website is for a completely different company. Its possible it could have been a lookalike phishing site tho, but I’m scared to use it again

Sorry to hear that. For monthly payments I'd go with Incogni or Optery, I believe both have monthly plans. I know the site you went to. I have gone there too. I don't think it's a phishing site but you can never be sure. For reference, the official DeleteMe site is: joindeleteme.com/

I had signed up with incogni, but had regrets as I didn’t see my info on a lot of sites. Namely b/c I had personally requested to remove. B/c Ingogni sends a link to set up service after paying, I never clicked on it, and asked them a few questions before deciding if I should request a refund. I ended up requesting a refund b/c they said they couldn’t remove some specific site. They did send me a list of the sites they remove from. They were nice, customer service was quick to respond, I may consider using them in the future. As of today. The cheapest is $7.49/mo. But right now I will continue to manually reach out. I don’t trust Delete Me asking all that info because how do we know they don’t sell your info after you leave? I feel like no one should have that much info on you, and if you’re concerned they do, you may want to get lifelock or something. Delete me also have someone on the bottom of their page for an opt out that says “Do Not Sell My Information”. Why would someone need to submit that to them if they probably didn’t sell your info too?

One of Incogni's big drawbacks is that it doesn't currently offer custom removal requests. Optery does, it costs more per month but I believe you could use it for a month, submit unlimited custom removal requests, and then cancel.

I know Aura is only available in the US. Is any of the other options available for users in the EU?
@homesecurityheroes
@homesecurityheroes 4 күн бұрын
It depends on the specific features you are after... For credit monitoring in an EU country - I do not know. For dark web monitoring, Aura will work for anyone from any country. For data broker opt-outs, I *think* Incogni currently offers the best coverage for EU citizens, or at least they advertise this more heavily. I believe DeleteMe now covers non-US citizens as well.

I didnt like how I had to install Bark on a home PC and that’s when the device would check in and alert the devices issues. I also COULD NOT STAND that it was constantly asking for the passcode to allow the sync to occur. Does Aura need a home PC to run as a main hub and will it constantly prompt for the passcode when sending/syncing data? This is for iOS (iPads) by the way.

@homesecurityheroes
@homesecurityheroes 4 күн бұрын
It should. We have since re-tested all of these apps and, while mSpy is the 'least bad' aggressive parental control app, I'd still caution against it. Our conclusion: "Honestly, this isn't a parental control app. This is spyware. You're not setting screentime limits or blocking harmful content. You're full-blown spying, and I'm not sure I trust the company. They use strange grammar, as if English isn't the marketing team's first language. And having to jailbreak your child's phone to use all services doesn't seem like a good idea security-wise."

I am researching to find the right app for my daughter's first phone. You can really feel the affiliate in you for this video. I have no problem with someone being an affliate, but I still want an less biased opinion. You completely ignored text message monitoring because Bark offers some monitoring while Aura doesn't offer it at all. That's a huge feature. Which means I can't really trust any of your videos since you are leading with your pocket.

Had a question about "locking credit reporting" - you said Aura allows you to lock from within the dashboard - you said Aura allows it with Experian. Here's the question... does it to you any good to lock down just one of the agencies? Wouldn't you need to lock down on all 3? New to this, thanks for the info!
@homesecurityheroes
@homesecurityheroes 4 күн бұрын
Good question! Yes, it's good practice to lock at all 3. The reason for this is that some lenders will only check with one bureau, not all three. By law, if you place a fraud alert at any of the national credit bureaus it automatically applies it a freeze to all three bureaus, so while this might be overkill, it's probably the fastest way to freeze all three.

Thing is i used incogni and found out it states it removes stuff but it doesn’t. I was emailing CS and dude claims it can take up to 2 yrs to remove even tho my detailed report said it was “suppressed” with green check etc. example peoplelooker site when i search me its there. Dashboard shows sent 720 in progress 13 etc. i found my info months after i was member still on most sites. So i had to opt out myself which was a click email etc. took a week and it was gone while incogni takes up to 2 yrs uh. Had a friend try deleteme and same thing. Good thing deleteme etc has a page on how to do alone helps free but takes up time. But worth it. Reddit has a nice page click autofill etc done move to next link.

Please don't mislead. They do NOT cover 750+ data brokers websites. I have a DeleteMe, and it's not that great. Look at the bottom of the page you highlighted, MOST of them are all "business, VIPs, exclusives, international, Custom requests" They only cover a few dozen sites, nothing more. My biggest pet peeve with DeleteMe is the lies about what they cover. I have deleteme & incogni, both are mid, but Incogni is better & cheaper. I have the free version of optery to get threat model visibility, tho next year I'll probably cancel both and just buy Optery

What are you interested specifically? If data broker opt-outs, Incogni is a good international option. You can still use Aura for dark web monitoring, but not credit monitoring if you are not American. haveibeenpwned.com is a great starting point as well, to see where your personal information is appearing.

@homesecurityheroes

Great point. Yes, it would be dishonest to say that the same thing couldn't happen to them. I believe they are a better run company than Lifelock but I absolutely recognize the irony in providing personal information to yet another third party in order to protect your personal information. You do want some form of monitoring in place, but you don't need to centralize it with a central entity if that makes you uncomfortable.

First, personal story here...Do NOT consider Aura for data removal. They don't search for your data like others. They SEND out your information to the extremely limited number of data brokers in their list and ask them to remove you, even when they didn't already have your information. I know this because on two different occasions, I got an email from the data broker saying I have been removed. The catch? THEY SENT TO THE EMAIL TO THE SIMPLELOGIN ALIAS I ONLY USED AT AURA. Aura is literally the only site on the planet that had that email address, and they GAVE it to the data broker. The company I trust to protect my identity GIVES IT OUT to data brokers. Also worth mentioning that DeleteMe's page shows that only 100 (as of today) sites are automatically removed with their standard plan. 645 sites are CUSTOM REQUESTS, meaning you have to manually request DeleteMe to remove each of those sites separately. Optery is more expensive in their Ultimate plan, but they remove 338 sites (as of today) automatically in that tier, which is over 3x as many as DeleteMe. They also offer unlimited custom requests.
