Oahh, oh, oh, “MICHEAL PALIN!”, Oahh oh oh, “MICHAEL PALIN!”, Oahh oh, oh “MICHEAL PALIN!”. This should be the one of many chants at all sports grounds around the world, when things require spicing up. Xxxxx

I re-watched this series last week and it was so good that I'm about to watch it again. It's my favourite of all travel miniseries. Michael's geniality, empathy as well as vulnerability make this series soar above all others, like the peaks themselves. It's astonishingly good.

0:56 - "What do they stand to gain?" You can absolutely see this bellend struggling to keep a straight face and think of any real answer. Then he just reels off some utter nonsense about tradition and money. They say the devil is the one who bribes you to do his bidding. I.e., they stand to gain NOTHING except maybe death, bullying, indoctrination and being used as fodder by a corrupt and immoral government while being sold BS about proud tradition.

These images bring back treasured memories of a similar journey I made back in 1991... Starting in Xinjiang Province in China traveling through the Pamir Range, across the Khunjerab Pass and down through the Karakoram Range stopping off in Gilgit, 'Pindi/ Islamabad, onto Lahore and then crossing into India (in my case on foot) at Amritsar, where I spent my first night as an itinerant guest in the Golden Temple. I remember Kashmir being off-limits to travellers at the time. From the distance of three decades it seems like another world entirely!

@@whenevernight9227 Just look at his reaction: 0:56 - "What do they stand to gain?" The guy literally starts laughing to himself, struggling to keep a straight face and think of any real answer. Then he just reels of some garbage about tradition and money. Maybe you don't see the world in all it's subtleties and project that ignorance onto others who don't follow your belief systems and ideologies? Just a thought.
