The Friedman sounds, looks and feels more like a real amp, but most of all, it's easier to use if you're making a record.

What are your thoughts on the tone "in the room" when playing them both 6 volume-ish? Is the SV even comparable? I've seen some pro/touring guys running SV's mic'd into stadium stuff...and I wonder if its just that good or if the 50w 1987/Plex etc is just a lot better period.
@void_snw6 күн бұрын
I usually find the neo creamback to be too scooped or fizzy, but here it sounds pretty neat, but I think the 75 still wins out for me.
@CorNigrum6 күн бұрын
NIce tones Very little difference really, the Bogner has a hint of that warm woolly mammoth, while the Friedman has a bit sharper teeth, but they are clearly the respective designer's take on one tone and I wouldn't be able to tell them apart in a mix. I'd pick the Bogner because the Helios (and Helios Eclipse) has heavier tones in it that go far beyond Plexi.

Plex definitely has a little more "Bite" in the high-mids that I associate Marshall plexis having. But the difference is so small. I would still buy the Smallbox as you get a 2nd channel, and it also has the FX loop.
@robertlevasseur889614 күн бұрын
I dunno man that's pretty close, especially if the tubes aren't identical. If the Friedman master volume actually works well, that adds a lot of value. Otherwise I'd have to say the Marshall is too close to ignore the cost difference.

have any tips for settings on a plexi style amp for a good lizzy sound?
@duese88824 күн бұрын
Depends on your guitar and the album. For Live and Dangerous just a nicely overdriven 50 Plexi, for the later stuff an 800s plus in both cases a boost/overdrive for soloing, Also depends on the volume you need ( room, stage, …) I always just use the treble channel of a Plexi, no bright cap, vol pot to 6 and EQ to 5. Drive pedal a neutral overdrive like a Timmy (clone) or similar. If desired at low volume you may consider to have a post phase inverter master installed.

Preferring the extra brightness of the Friedman in this case personally. What's the switch you're using?
