Thanks for your video. I have a problem, i can't remove the two screws of the motherboard. I tried and tried and it seems I swept it away, any tip? I don't know what to do...
@geraldherbert8115

A new screw driver tip. Maybe a rubber band later over the head and driver tip place on it and a good bit or torque. Last case scenario is a dremol tool to cut a flat head groove, but that’s for the steady handed tech. This is repair talk btw, just my watching account. 😏

this led diffuser for the front camera flash you refer to at 6:29?? i dont see it nor did you talk about removing it! also you didnt mention removing that little sheet of blue plastic when you grabbed the new screen.at least you show it. i have to watch another video to see what you are talking about. i'm guessing it's the little clear plastic thing in the round hole. it mysteriously went from the old phone to the new at 8:43. by the way, in a tutorial or any kind WORDS are a GOOD thing. thanks for the vid

It’s a plastic clear cover for the front facing camera flash. I forgot it on my first repair of this model.. which happens to be this video and I was emphasizing how irritating it is to disassemble, then reassemble just to do it over again for a small part. My fault for not showing it a little more.

Thought I'd ask for your input. I have an inspiron 15 5548. the other day I moved rooms with my laptop with the charger plugged into the laptop but not the wall. I went to go replug the charger into the wall, and the end that plugs into the wall shocked me pretty hard when I picked it up and my screen immediately went blank. I restarted my laptop and saw that it said plugged in, but not charging. also when I boot up with it plugged in, a screen pops up saying that it cannot recognize the adapter, and the battery may not charge. So I did some troubleshooting. I first thought that maybe the charger got fried, so I tried a different charger (also dell charger, same 65w). I got the same things showing up. so next I thought that I fried my battery, so I ordered a replacement battery, swapped them out, plugged in the charger and was met with the same issues. Now I'm at the stage where I think I've narrowed it down to my charging port. Just to note, my laptop has been running significantly slower since this has happened which has me very worried that I could've messed up more than my charging port. have you seen this before? what do you think are the proper steps to confirm that it is my charging port, before spending a bunch of money to replace it just to be met with the same issues?
@kevinandrews9302
@kevinandrews9302 5 жыл бұрын
also if i unplug and replug in the charger it will say it's charging for a solid 15 seconds, then say not charging
@RepairTalk
@RepairTalk 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, but it would require the pads view of the board (motherboard solder point map) and using a voltmeter to check all the ratings (volt and ohms) associated with the charging chips and port. I’m not saying it’s impossible to find, but it’s easier to get/run ratings on a known working board and compare those to your motherboard. In short, buying another charge port would be the simplest way to test if it’s the charge port or the mother board. A large shock can easily damage a board. I honestly think dell computers from the past 4 years are garbage, board fail way to easily and have issues that other brands never experience, and most LCDs and frames are ridiculously priced! Try a new charge port, if that doesn’t fix the issue, then a new board can be worth it as long if you can remove the cpu and swap it to the new board without any solder work.

THANK YOU SO MUCH MY LG X CHARGE (from Xfinity) SCREEN WORKS AGAIN NOW!!!! 😂 But my screen's color is very washed, which could be an issue with the replacement screen I bought, so I'll just mess with the settings until the colors are good enough lol.
@RepairTalk
@RepairTalk 5 жыл бұрын
Yes. Aftermarket (made by a 3rd party) screens have less quality colors and backlights. OEM (Original Equipment Manufactured) LG screens can expensive is you are ordering from a retail site like Amazon or EBay, so most people chose the aftermarket. I test my displays before hand to eliminate a potential loss in quality, might have to send back a few screens, but time matters very little when it come to quality work.

@RepairTalk

Test it with the old screen. If it works again with broken screen, then the new screen is defected or damaged.

I successfully replaced the screen and everything works except the ear speaker. What could have gone wrong and do I need to get a new speaker? I couldn't really tell from the video but what exactly is the orientation of the speaker. I should have taken my own pics prior to disassembly.
@RepairTalk
@RepairTalk 5 жыл бұрын
Off hand I cannot remember if the gold Pins need to be at the top or bottom, in terms of orientation.. but I would flip it and see if it starts working, if not then you might have damaged the woofer come or copper core and that can hinder it from working. LG makes cheap cheap crappy ear speakers and I generally have an extra one just in case when working on their devices.

Glad to hear, C-Clamps can be used instead of the little crank clamps I use to hold the screen in place as the adhesive cures. This helps avoid that new screen lifting up on the edges. Hope everything went well for you!

It appears to me (from eBay, not this video) that the screens are separate parts from the display. Now, unless that's not true, I was really hoping that replacing it would not be anywhere near this involved. If the display still works just fine, and I only want to replace the glass, do I really have to go through all this?
@RepairTalk
@RepairTalk 5 жыл бұрын
Glass is glued to the LCD with Loca glue.. it can be cut off with a good heat gun, or freezing technique.. but it is very very difficult for a beginner to go a glass only on this display, and just about impossible to have a perfect looking display when finished if everything goes right. Loca glue requires a big UV light, not a black light, and about 4-8 hours under the light to allow that glue to dry. It’s just easier to replace the entire display with frame to avoid issues down the road. I’ve ran a store for 4+ years, and we did glass only repairs a lot in the beginning, profit margin is high... but so is your risk. Replace the whole screen, and sell the “broken but working” display on eBay to someone who specializes in glass only work. Win win imo!

Make sure the mid frame it seated correctly, if there is a space between the gold points on the motherboard and the connectors on the speaker it won’t have sound. Could just need to thread the screws in a little further.

"Unbreakable" screen? Check that again boss..... Just the Moto Z-Force and Z-Force 2 have the "unbreakable" screen. And trust me just dropping the Z-Force series, even on the corners, won't break the screen. But the Z-Play has your standard Gorilla Glass screen that's known to shatter if you so much as cough on it.
@RepairTalk
@RepairTalk 5 жыл бұрын
It’s a different composition of glass and other materials vs all other smart phone manufacturers.. they claim it’s shatter resistant, and have gone as far as saying it was unbreakable... obviously nothing is “unbreakable” other wise I wouldn’t be repairing it. I’ve even replaced the force screens as well.

Did I miss the new screen?
@RepairTalk

No, it’s a screen with frame replacement, basically swapping the board and battery to the new set up, and what to pay attention to in terms of small parts to ensure the device continues to works as it should.

After applying heat, what do you think about adding solvent (isopropyl alcohol) while using plastic card to separate cover? I saw this on another video.
@RepairTalk
@RepairTalk 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have tried this, but it will allow the adhesive to stick to the frame again and that can make it more difficult for some. When I use a xacto chisel to scrape off old adhesive, as I do for iPad repairs, I use alcohol to ensure my blade slides without much effort and also gets stubborn adhesive to come right off.

Is the LCD hard to remove?
@RepairTalk
@RepairTalk 5 жыл бұрын
No. Although placement of padding and circuit board on the back of said LCD tend to be tedious and on first timers can take few tries to reassemble without pinch marks on the screen. Great question though. Motherboard is for the most part, some one correct me if I am wrong, fused to the inner frame. I’m sure it can be removed, but at the risk of damage and time consumption, best to get new frame with board or a new frame for a board you already have.

You are trying a glass only, not recommended. You are saving your self 10-15$ by doing roughly 500% more work. www.amazon.com/Black-Adhesive-Model-61395-Double/dp/B07BMHYRPL/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1541553005&sr=8-6&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=tesa+doublesided+tape&dpPl=1&dpID=31WWAdOECVL&ref=plSrch For double sided tape. I have wholesale membership.. so I get OEM for cheap. Never do a glass only as a first time repair. I’ve repaired thousands of devices over the past few years, and I hate glass only repairs. It requires a grey area of heat, too little it breaks the lcd by pressure and to much you burn it. Then you have to glue the new one on with UV glue and let it sit under a UV lamp for hours. Tip made shorter... spend the extra 10-15$ and get the full assembly and use a strong professional strength phone grade double sided adhesive.

Change the part of the charger that plugs into the wall. I have this issue with one of my laptops when I use my wife’s extender for her Asus on my MSI. If that doesn’t work it could be a bad battery. Most of the time, with those symptoms, it’s not the charging port. Your computer is recognizing its plugged in, but is not receiving the correct wattage, amperage, or voltage. Try that and let me know.
