I remember when Charlene sang "There is a Time" on the Andy Griffith show and Andy Stopped playing his guitar so that he could listen to her sing. When the song was over Andy said, "Well I believe that's the prettiest thing I've ever heard." That was television history.

Rhonda is easy on the eyes and everybody is playing extremely well. "Pickin and a grinnin", from old Roy Clark and Buck Owens Hee Haw days.

I also grew up watching this show, but never heard this. Introduced my grandkids to this show and they love the Darlings. Just heard this song for the very first time and had to look it up and see all about it. It is just beautiful and it was educational to see it’s history, who wrote it and who’s still singing it. I can’t wait to show this episode to my girls!!!

This Song Brought Tears To My Eyes As A Child The Very First Time I Heard It On The Andy Griffith Show Over Fifty Years Ago, And As An African American Child I Learned That All Music Is Beautiful And I Longed To See Those Mountains And Valleys That They Came From. Appalachia Is One Of My Favorite Topics. Music Must Be Taught In Our Schools Churches And Homes Because It Is More Apart Of Us Than We Know, RIP To The People Who Brought Us And Taught Us.🕊🕊🕊

The term gets thrown around a lot these days. Earl Scruggs was, is, and always will be the GOAT! Often copied, never to be replaced.

There , in my opinion, any banjo picker out there, including myself, that dont wish they could play like the late Mr Scruggs, may his name and his music live for ever!!!
