Stupid question... got a vinyly floor well installed. A 4x8 foot section slopes 1/2 at the wall. Gonna liquid level it, then tile. How dumb of an idea is this?

Oh yes, that last point. I have been surprised by a shower of rain on concrete tiles. I lost a lot of grip, so I sat down and waited until it stopped.

Great vid. Nicely explained. I would add 2 tips for speed. Use a long handled blade spreader rather than a hand trowel. Drill a 1/2” hole in water bucket at your gauge level. easier and quicker.

The guys using “concrete floor paint” are using epoxy. And the only reason it would fail within a year is exactly why your floor will as well. You didn’t grind your concrete before you primed, let alone vacuum which you said isn’t really necessary. It’s always necessary. Self leveling concrete is made to be tiled on, polished, grind+sealed or coated. You have no clue what you’re talking about

DO NOT lift the paddle mixer up & down! This method pulls air into the mix which is bad for the mix. Instead. use a trowel to scrape the sides and bottom of the bucket. Too much air in the mix will show up as air pockets on the level floor.

Great video with lots of helpful content, and clever (cute) production too. Tomorrow I’ll be working on a small job. I’ll start by trying to grind down the high spot and then calibrate and follow the math. Thank you from Canada. Metric, for the love of Pete!

Excellent video I have a french drain around three of the four walls I have covered it with mortar should I cover it with self leveling compound if need be and I am considering painting the entire basement with a 2 part epoxy paint to seal it and give a nice appearance then later I can tile or place carpet as desired your opinion thanks Mark

I laid wooden tongue and groove floor on my new build home but my wife insisted it flowed from room to room, I explained it won’t work as there are differences between the floors but I still went ahead and laid it. I cut the door frames in beautifully but low and behold……the floor is now raising up slightly in certain areas. I’m going to pull the floor out and level the concrete underneath like I should have originally but my wife is again insisting that it flows through. Can I use self levelling fluid in various rooms that will then have the same level? Basically I have the lounge, hallway n kitchen that need to be the same level, will that work?

If you have 8mm depth in one area, so you need a 3-10mm screed, and the other area is 1mm, so you need the 1-3mm screed, is it ok to use the two screeds together, or do you wait , let one dry, then finish off with the other one?

HELP! Renovating my kitchen and waa originally going to level over the old ceramic tiles! (A lazy way, i know).. My brother convinced me to pull them up.. we did... then we had to scrape up a load of self adhesive vinyl tiles which were under the ceramics... Then scrape up all the old glue.. Its turned into a total nightmare! Its now 2.30am.. My new kitchen arrives sometime tomorrow and im ready to prime and hopefully get the job done before it arrives! Heres my question! Do i need an expansion gap? I cant see one in this video! If so, what do i use? Stressed doesnt begin to cover it!

good video. Is there a product (in US) that will be think enough to accommodate a slight slope? My floor has a slope of 1" across about 10feet. IOW, is there a thicker product, that will lay flat but not run downhill due to its viscosity?

Unless you pour the whole floor in one pour you'll never get a perfectly smooth finish. It will be good enough for tiling but not as a final finish. Speaking from experience.

Greetings, Mr. Alex Muir, I am Divyansh Sharma, and I love your video course. I’m a man who wants to learn about cars and spend my life with them, and this video course is really, for me at least, the bridge to a life of automotive excitement. I love how you go into extreme detail about everything, and explain it with all your heart. It’s really helpful for car enthusiasts like me, who want to go into cars, but know a fraction of what there is to know before you can pop the hood and get to work. I especially love those little bits of humour you include in the middle, they really brightens things up. I admire how you really know what you’re doing, which gives me, and I’m pretty sure everyone else, confidence, that we won’t screw things up when we try to do something as little as change the oil. Since I love your course so much, I ask (in the best way possible): When can I get to see the rest of it? You explaining gearboxes, differentials, and with your amazing 3d graphics, the braking system, the power steering, and suspension. I really admire what you’re doing, which is why I’m so excited to see the rest of your magic. Thank you so much for taking time to read this, and I hope you’ll get back to me soon. Regards, Divyansh Sharma

Thanks for doing this. I have a roof very similar to this that I will be cleaning soon, and I'm trying to figure out how I can minimize contact or not walk on the roof at all. Apparently, the terracotta tiles the home owner has are very expensive and I am not trained to replace them. I'm going to be using sodium hypochlorite to clean the tiles and do a heavy rinse. I noticed the roof you are on has a lot of the same Gloeocapsa magma or lichen. Any thoughts on cleaning them? Some people shy away from it but I believe, if done quickly and the cleaners are washed off properly, there is no need to worry.

For measuring out water accurately we do as you did with the kitchen jug and when the bucket has the right amount in it we drill a 12mm hole though the bucket level with the water. Aim the hose into the bucket full blast and when water goes through hole, bingo.
