Glad it's not just mine that takes a lot of cranking! Even when you think it's fired. Great once it's going though. Fitted a ThermoStart to mine which really helps in the cold

It's original exhaust.. so don't know 😁.. but i made a better custom exhaust for it.. you should hear it now.. maby i upload a video soon 😊👍

Why an earth do you put startpilot in that engine?! It´s got glow plug and forcefeed system.I have never needed to use pilot to start my -68 5000!

Don't use the starting fluid cos it's very good product to destroy the engine! I guess that this ford already have some engine problems because you are using it.......

5 seconds of cranking at a time is not ideal. IIRC, the manufacturer recommends 30-40 seconds max. at once. Stressing the starter that far obviously requires a cool down period of one minute or more if you fail to start, but it's a standard procedure. It's clearly visible that weather is pretty warm. After igniting the thermostart successfully once, all that should be necessary is one cranking session. Yes, it won't start in 3-5 seconds. I repeat, the starter can take at least 30 seconds before you should even consider giving it a break. It helps if you read the manual and applied full throttle.

Toyota d4d engines are the best diesel engines, highly reliable and powerful they also use the same engine in the hilux etc... Noisy and rattly but very good!!.

Yeah. I also like the d4d but this is the previous one, they used in the older Hiace 1989/90-1995, atleast so in my Finnish/European Version. There are tho different versions in different countrys, To bad they never imported the turbo versions here.
