I do tours like this when ever I can. I love being alone in the night forest, sit on a campfire or enjoy the darkness and the sounds of the wildlife in the distance. The older I get and the more commitments I get, the more I wish I had done it more often when I had more time. If you are young, than dont waste your time.

It was a quiet night in Outpost 38. The only thing keeping Marcus company was the heavy rain falling onto the large observation glass and the noise of all the equipment being used to monitor the forest below. Blip. Beep. Boop. He clambered away on his keyboard finishing up a paper he had been working on for his research on the strange anomalies happening in the area. As he typed his last sentences he looked up from his monitor and out past the glass. It was almost… peaceful. For the first time in weeks had felt a sense of ease wash over him. He hadn’t told the outpost headquarters about his severe loneliness or depression. He had hoped to quietly slip out to his post before anyone could get a return on the hospital records. Marcus was successful in this plot. After what had happened with Anya, he had needed some alone time. No matter the cost. It was clear that he was cut off from the headquarters with no way back to civilization until the chopper was able to come airlift him out in a week’s time. You see for Marcus had with him all the necessary rations, water, and equipment necessary for him to survive for weeks if not months out there alone. If his mind didn’t break first that is. Blip. Beep. Boop. The barely noisy equipment had taken him out of his trance. How long had he dozed off for? A couple of minutes? An hour? No matter. But something was starting to happen. The machines hemmed and hawed with activity. Something was out there. “How could anything survive out here in these woods,” he asked to himself. “I haven’t seen any activity for nearly three days!” The radar came to life with a simple flick of the switch. It was old naval equipment. Outdated but reliable. There it was again. That pesky blip. Blip. Beep. Boop. He had been following this anomaly for two weeks off and on now. A low grumbling roar was then heard off in the distance. That was it alright. Marcus grabbed his spotlight and aimed it out the glass approximately the same vector told to him via radar. He saw nothing. Marcus was at least hoping to get a glimpse of this anomaly for the first time tonight. Behind him the radar went off again. Bing! Whatever this was it was moving towards the outpost fast. As Marcus turned his attention back towards the observation glass from the radar he activated the defense systems. 30 foot perimeter wall with electric fence wired to 30,000 volts. “Enough to stop a T-Rex,” Marcus thought to himself. Flood lights to help scare off anything afraid of being seen. Blip. Beep. Boop. The radar kept binging. He was nearing now. Not far. Whatever it was it had to be close enough to see. He peered out the glass straining his neck and squinting his eyes. He strained with every muscle to try and see what was capable of making such a commotion. Blip. Beep. Boop. The anomaly let out another roar. Each one seemingly getting more and more blood curdling. A low grumble capable of vibrating the fillings out of your teeth and able to bring a grown man to his knees. Then, all of a sudden, all the equipment went silent. There was nothing. The radar had gone quiet. It was dark in the outpost. Marcus was puzzled! He checked his equipment. It seemed nothing had power. “Must’ve been the storm,” He thought as he put on his rain coat to go check the surge box. Upon arriving to the surge box located just at the base of the outpost tower he could see that there were no surges tripped. “Odd,” He said aloud to himself looking around trying to find the solution to his problem. The cables ran along the ground towards the wall perimeter. There was a problem. The thick power cable connecting his tower to the power had been bitten clean through. Only something with razor sharp teeth and a bite force capable of crushing cars could accomplish such a feat. “How could this cable have been chewed through?” He thought as he looked around for any breach in the security. His eyes scanned from left to right searching for something l. As soon as he saw the cable however he made for a quick getaway back up the stairs to the tower. He struggled in his haste to find his footing and nearly tripped getting through the door where he slammed it shut and locked the several deadbolts that had been put in place. In the pitch black he saw nothing. He could hear nothing but the heavy rain falling on the observation glass. Suddenly his equipment lit up unlike he had ever seen before! Like Christmas lights and an arcade put together! “What’s happening??” He exclaimed! Blip. Beep. Boop. He heard a low grumbling roar coming from the dark corner of the room. He slowly shut his eyes in shear terror for what he feared to be the last moments of his life. The door was locked behind him. Blip. Beep. Boop. Post Script: This is my first time ever trying any sort of story writing. I was particularly inspired by this particular outpost video. I may or may not be inspired to do more of these in the future but for the time being please let me know if you enjoyed it and if there’s any constructive criticism you might have I would love to hear it in the replies. Thank you and have a wonderful night outposters.

As the end comes memories haunt me. All started after I killed one of them in anger, and they all called me assassin. In anger, I killed ten more, and I was called a killer. Furious and frustrated, I killed hundred of them, so they said I was a madman. Infuriated, I killed a thousand, and everyone said I was a hero. So, I killed ten thousand, and I was called a conqueror. I do not know how could we lost the war, but now I am wanted under the name of genocide. This is not how I imagined my final days.

Hello dear Outposters, Final Days is a concept coming to you in two parts, building on one another! I hope you're excited to see what happens next. :) The imagery has some outpost-ish feel to it without actually showing a "classical" outpost (which I like). Have a look into the video description for a short storyline. As always - appreciate to hear from you in the comments! Have a great day and thanks for all your support!

Imagine what it would be like to be manning your outpost for months alone in a hostile climate. Civilization now only exists in memories, and the narrow confines of your compartment. You wonder why they installed two chairs when this station has a crew of one. You have to complete your daily duty until the relief crew arrives through the hostile wilderness on the outside. Beyond the horizon, oblivion awaits....until you notice a single blinking light in the distance

I feel like ambient backgrounds are the new visual radio. Most nights they are better than most things on streaming services that try but never quite capture a mood or tone. 6 seconds in these usually do.

Its 5AM, the automated surveillance towers are reporting movement to the east. The radio is silent. The wind is normal. The sun is rising. My rifle is ready. The drone swarm is reporting nominal battery life. A howling is heard to the south east. The drones are launched. The AI security monitor is recommending lockdown. I’m all alone here. I am afraid. The drones are reporting contact at 500 meters. The swarm counter is dropping. The AI has engaged the auto lockdown protocols. I override the command. I am afraid. I hear howling, multiple calls to the east. The AI engages the auto defense cannons. The tower shakes. The ammo count is dropping. The drone swarm is depleted. The AI recommends immediate shelter protocols. I am afraid. The rifle is ready. The AI reports, multiple hostiles at 100, 98, 95 meters and closing. Soon they will reach the doors. The AI recommends facility evacuation. I am afraid. I give the command _/Facility/RangerTower/Explosive/Commander/SelfDestruct. The AI sets a timer. Only 5 minutes. The door shakes. I am no longer afraid. The door is moving. The rifle is up. The AI gives a warning: “IMMINENT CONTACT”. Only 3 minutes left. The door breaks. The rifle opens fire. I hold the line. The AI engages its preservation protocols. It records everything and places its memory storage into lockdown. Only 1 minute, the rifle is hot. I don’t stop shooting. Only 30 seconds, the ammo counter is dropping. The AI gives its last recommendations. They are coming in. Too many, too many. I am not afraid. The AI gives a countdown. The rifle is roaring. The time is up. The sun is out. I am no longer afraid.
