Can you take a fretboard off a normal guitar and use that?
@alaricmusicКүн бұрын
Awesome. Both mics sound nice on their own and that could be further optimized with placement. EG: The extinct audio would offer more clarity and high end say pointing at 12th fret They sound awesome together in those positions and you could obviously play with levels to fit it in a busy mix.

Hey Fabian, firstly, beautiful recording and playing! You have an intimate, honeyed quality to your voice that reminds me of Iron & Wine's Sam Beam in the best possible way (one of my favourite vocalists). I was wondering how you feel your BM9 compares to your NoHypes and which you gravitate towards, irrespective of the price difference? I am just getting into ribbons and it's been really helpful to watch your videos. To my ear watching your videos it seems the LRM-V is very old school, warm and fat and with the highs noticeably rolled off, immediate vintage vibes, while this BM9 is clearly a little more modern and picks up the sibilance in your voice more. I have a deep voice but produce a lot of sibilance, so I am torn as to whether to spring for the BM9 or to go for an LRM-V, which might be more forgiving but also less versatile for other sources. Any thoughts from you would be gratefully received, keep up the great work!

Really nice build! My only comment would be that the metal pickup surround will only block noise if you add a ground wire to it.

Well done, this was a lot of fun to watch! Q: How often do you record to a click track when you record with the headphones?
@FabianHollandGuitar5 күн бұрын
Hi, thanks so much!! I actually never record with a click track, even when wearing headphones. I find it distracting plus in most of my songs the tempo fluctuates a little. If I’m in the situation where I want drums on a track then I might record that song live with the drummer.

Hey Fabian, great video and amazing guitar playing as usual! I am looking to buy this portable mic and I found your great review. Do you know if it is possible to have the build-in reverb only while recording and keep the recorded track clean in order to add a higher quality reverb in post-processing. Cheers
@FabianHollandGuitar3 күн бұрын
Hey Simone, how’s it going? Great to hear from you!! I’m not actually sure if you can use the Reverb just for monitoring when recording? I’d need to try it and then get back to you!! I have to say I’ve never liked any of the onboard effects though so I always just add them after I record.
@greensimo3 күн бұрын
@@FabianHollandGuitar yeah, if you can add the strymon after there is no competition, it makes a lot of sense...I will get a h4 pro recorder next week so don't worry with testing the monitoring reverb option for me...I think it is not crucial...I used to have a h2 that served me for roughly 10 yrs and it was impressive! Great to get in touch with you and great videos :)

Hey I also have a Km184 and i'm trying to mic my classical guitar students in some small concert venue. Mic is plugged into a 75W godin Acoustic amp, and i'm music my pickup guitar to play duo I got to say it's usually a nightmare feedback wise ;) There's just a 3 band EQ on the amp. Any tips you can give me to improve sound. As it is, I gotta keep the gain really low to avoid feedback and people can't hear very much the unplugged (km184) guitar. Thanks !

Hello from Poland👋🏻 Few months ago I just started recording some covers on my instagram music account, it's going well, but I feel that the sound quality is lacking. So far, I've just recorded with my iPhone, sound and image. I have just iphone 14pro, martin d10e, and my voice. I want to buy something like zoom to record. I can sing and play quite well I think, but I'm completely amateur in recording. I want to start a KZfaq channel with my covers and original song, but i need some better sound quality than smartphone microphone. Do you think zoom is enough for the start? Do I need something more to good record, at the moment? Thanks 😊
@FabianHollandGuitar6 күн бұрын
Hi there! Thanks for the question. Are you singing as well as playing guitar? The zoom is great for both but the mics on board the H4N Pro are very directional, meaning they’re not the best at picking up sound from a wide space. Covers on KZfaq is a great idea by the way 😉👍

Hi, I’ve just found your channel through the strymon pedal review. Gotta say you have the cleanest, crispest acoustic tone I’ve ever heard. Outstanding. Fantastic voice as well. Been listening to your albums too, would definitely suggest adding the albums into your playlist, took me a while to find them, but very happy I did! I took a break from playing for too long, your channel has been an inspiration to get going again. From the UK here too, was great to hear a traditional song. I’m a huge Hamish Imlach fan and traditional folk songs. Was truly refreshing to hear you play. Do you have any suggestions on fingerpicking patterns to practice? I have a few nailed, just learning to blend them right now. Will hopefully be there for your next live stream. Thank you very much
@FabianHollandGuitar12 күн бұрын
Hi, thanks for the comment. So glad you’re enjoying the content. Ah okay yeah I need to make my albums easier to find, thanks for the tip 🙏. I’m always a fan of the alternate thumb patterns, that’s my go to pattern and then I advance it based on the song and the melody. Have you tried many alternate thumb patterns? What are the ones you’ve already learnt?
@slippinjimmy22211 күн бұрын
@@FabianHollandGuitar hey, thanks for the reply! Hard to explain without a tab 😂 but things like, a C chord for instance, with 3/1 pinch, 2 D, 0 G, 3, 0 high E, 2 D. Then alternate with like a G chord, skipping the A string. Some standard travis style patterns like the song ‘wings’ by Josh Ritter if you’ve heard that? I watched your video about using fingerpicking without chord shapes, never really occurred to me so have been trying that. Never used tunings other than standard, so really want to give DADGAD a go now, sounds incredible! Thanks for your time, really appreciate it and all of your content 👍👍
