Most of the construction you saw is for a long-delayed new metro line. As you can imagine, tunnelling underground is very slow work in a city as full of ancient remains as Rome! When the new stations open, they'll be partly museums, showing off all the artefacts they found while digging!

I also saw the full report from Jenny. It's completely shameful what an amazing place this "should" have been, but was squandered by complete incompetence. It's like everyone involved doesn't have any business sense at all. The owner..... don't even get me started on, so lets talk about the cast. This park has no actual rides or grand events for attractions. It is solely the people in it that are the attraction. They needed training on how to "sell" the product. Spend less time chit-chatting with each other and more time actively engaging with the guests to create an immersive experience. You can't sell a product if the take-away is lack-luster and no one really talks about it with anyone else. No word-of-mouth is death to a business that literally has free world wide advertising by the people who would have raved about it on social media.... if the experience wasn't just a prettier presentation of a typical poorly acted Ren Fair. So much should have been done and so much was failed. It's sad really.

Welcome to my hometown. I like to see my city through the fresh eyes of someone who has never seen it. I hope you will enjoy it. And yes, be careful of places (bars/cafes/restaurants) near tourist attractions. The prices may be high and the quality is not always the best.

It's not a sit-down restaurant (it's more geared towards quick lunches), and it's not in the city centre, but if you want to try the best traditional Roman rectangular-sliced pizza I've ever had, my recommendation is Pizzeria da Agostino, Corso Trieste 66, Rome. They have so many varieties (I love the one with potatoes), and they're really friendly, family-run for years!

The elevator in Journey goes up one floor so you are walking and entering the ride vehicles above the previous queue area where you first entered the lift. Using the word bureaucracy for a hotel check in is a bit rude. The Japan cast members go beyond to help international tourists and did so when I stayed for four nights and the check in process was simple and no hassle at all. Id love to know what you had so much trouble with that made you so annoyed, but based on your comments in the video at the start, id say because everyone in your reservation group wasn't there for check in they wouldn't allow you to check in because all passports need to be sighted and registered and rooms are not ready until after 2-3pm.
@TwoDisneyDudes
@TwoDisneyDudes 6 ай бұрын
Actually, the cast members were very cool about one of our member just dropping by with their passport later as it was in their bag they had already checked in. And the hotel staff were very nice. What I mean by bureaucracy is that we had entered all of this info into the website already when reserving the room. And then we had to hand write it all down once we got there. What's the point of doing both? I don't blame the staff, they were just following the rules. But extra, seemingly unnecessary rules is the colloquial definition of bureaucracy. I stayed in two other hotels while on this trip and this was by far the most complicated check in.

Window screens are not at all used in the UK as there is simply no need.. Our double or tripple- glazed windows are far more substantial than in USA and as you noticed cut out almost all external noise.

You make very good points. Plus screens would negatively affect how the building looks, which is something to consider in a historic building.

You mentioned "cobblestones" in London and in Paris. These you videoed are not cobblestones but are "sets". Cobblestones are circular like stones usually polished smooth by years of use. Actually, Diana was not a princess. Her title was Diana, Princess of Wales. OK, it does sound like being a princess but despite her popular reference as such sorry but she was not a princess. To be a prince or princess the individual has to be of royal blood. A really good video!

By the way, the best way to “get rid” of coins in Japan is to use “self check out” machines at any shops actually. Just dump it in, all of it, when you pay. Then use bills to pay the rest of difference.

I’m so glad you had a great time here in Japan. I agree about the “pros” there and it’s why I moved to Japan 15 years ago. The convenience of all your needs being catered to, pristine and updated infrastructure, peaceful neighborhoods and safety, walkability of human-sized cities, and the prices! Our 500sqft apartment is less than $350, and it’s only 30 minutes away from Shinjuku/Shibuya. Best of all is the people, it’s refreshing to be surrounded with respectful honorable people.

For all the reasons you mentioned, I wish I could hop on a plane and spend months there. I work from home so I could work from anywhere but my husband doesn't work from home so it's not a practical plan. For fun, I looked up the cost of an Airbnb for a month and it really wasn't that bad. Affordable enough that if my husband also worked from home that I would have seriously consider a two-month stay. But alas....

What a fantastic place, so interesting. Your guide, yes, he did talk slow and I think it's because of the part of England he was from. From what I picked up, he sounded like he was from the North East of England where some dialects sound like a drawl. Plus, as he's been in Japan for a long time he sounded like he had a Japanese lilt too. I'm enjoying your travels in Japan, you need to come back to the UK sooooon, especially Wales, lol.

I've been to Disney World in Florida and Tokyo Disneyland. I 100% preferred Tokyo Disneyland. We had the Starlight pass for a significantly cheaper price. Tokyo Disneyland is the best parts of Disney World compacted into a smaller park with a local flair. The line ups were super quick, but granted, we went on January 3.

We had some tickets to get on some rides faster but even when we waited, it never felt like a long wait. We specifically chose two middle-of-the-week days to minimize the chance of crowds.
