This talk is incredible and needs to be applied to our lives! It's not about the love I haven't received in the past but the love I'm not giving in the present. So true!

Wonderful art... But what happened to the content that defined Maxwell's wishes for the institute? Or, am I just not seeing it come up on my feeds?

How do you think Limhi was able to quote the Old Testament prophets so well? The Brass Plates were still in Zarhemla so he and his father and grandfather didn't have access to them. Yet Limhi has a very deep connection to the Exodus narrative, more so than Jacob or the later Nephi chapters. In Mosiah 7:29, Limhi says, "For behold, the Lord hath said" and then says something that is very similar to Jeremiah 6:21 as is referenced in footnote 29b. He also quotes prophecies of the Lord in verses 30 and 31 of the same chapter. How do you think Limhi is able to refer to these prophecies?

It grieves me to hear of Melissa Inouye’s passing. I did not know her, but I have read her book, “Crossings” and I graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1977 with a close relative of hers, Dwight Inouye. The Inouye’s are a brilliant family, and I am privileged to know one of them personally, to know about their time in Sigurd, my mother’s birthplace, and to know of Melissa’s courageous struggle with her disease.

Looking forward to this book. Joseph Spencer has opened my eyes to great insights into Mormon's structure in his writing as well as Nephi's life and experience in his first two books of the BoM. He has a way of drawing out powerful insights from stories and text we have likely read many times but have overlooked or not taken the time to examine from a different point of view.

We can learn much from reading Isaiah. His prophecies are frightening, but the Lord will not be mocked. There are consequences for those who disobey God to the degree some people and civilizations have done. I assume the children who die go to heaven. They fulfilled their purpose here on earth.

Loved how you resolved the issue of naming Christ at 34 minutes I went to a meditation group two or three times a week years ago. I had left the church having been dissatisfied with a superficial relationship with the Church, not realizing there was so much more. For awhile, meditation was my "church". Unexpectedly, came a profound and soul changing encounter with the Divine as I began my meditation one night. I had never known.........in this life........such pure, brilliant, yet tender love as is in His presence. "KNOW ME", He invited and showed me a vision of a huge and golden-glowing book of scripture. I felt hunger as never before and wished I could just pull the glowing, holy book into the depths of my soul. I understood He was showing me how I could know Him. Having never properly repented of anything, I poured out my heart in sorrow, yearning to become at one with Him. I wanted nothing more. Only Him and to always be His. And He made me new. I returned home eager to find and dust off my scriptures and devour them. I have given myself to Him, only to discover greater meaning, value, and joy. This was 35 years ago, and He is my every hope, my every joy. When our son died several years ago, tragically and unexpectedly, grief eclipsed even my love for God for a time. Realizing my sincere need of Him, I "reached higher". My love and trust for God, soon eclipsed even desperate pain with the assurance of God's goodness. I have entered into sacred covenants with Him and can absolutely entrust my son and every relationship into His care. I have not consciously practiced meditation for 35 years, but somehow, it's effects are still part of my intimacy with God.

A beautiful story about Hugh Nibley and his teachings/sharing of lessons he’s learned. Is there some way with new technology that the words spoken in this video can be enhanced so that we can hear them more distinctly? Or is there a text that can be read and followed?
