When I watched this, initially it felt quite satisfying. But as it went on, man, Envy's screams kinda got to me. I never knew I can feel bad for a villain.

Where do I even start? Mustang cared a lot for Hughes but also respect him. I am pretty sure his "i don't believe re'tard like you could even manage to kill man like Hughes" was both honest credit to Hughes combat ability and a bait to learn how envy killed him. Mustang couldn't expect what he will learn is in a way even worse than Hughes death itself. His best friend, man that loved his wife and daughter more than anything in the world. Not only was he slaughtered. But murderer did so wearing his wife face thus making his last moments even more desperate and tragic. Up to this point mustang was fairly calm and cold. He didn't expect anything he learn could provoke him but this... While chimeras didnt realy understand the situation (as far as they knew some random dude got killed by homunculus pretending to be some random lady) Edward understand what happened in a blink of an eye. So did hawkeye and even her after killing more people than covid couldnt bare to look at envy at this point. Probably feeling for both Hughes tragedy and how this new information must have hurted Mustang. And Roy himself... goddamn. Envy was dead he just didn't know it. Showing Mustang form he chose to kill Hughes was his suicide. At this moment there was nothing in the world that could stop mustang from not only killing envy but doing it with most painfull ways fire user could kill regenerating enemy. Burn his tongue off. Boil his eyeballs. Fcker gonna die but not before he suffer. And all of this was shown in like a second. You pretty much didnt have to see the fight. You could read envy future from mustangs face. And envy was dumb enough to look into this face and laugh because he failed to understand what it really meant.

God i both love and hate Envy.

Three rules in life: 1. You don't spit on the wind 2. You don't tug on Superman's cape 3. You don't mess with Roy Mustang's friends and gloat about it.

これラストが代わりにやってたら、変わらないけどエンヴィーの場合は基本煽るし、自分から火に油を注いでるから尚更容赦無いんよな。

Scenes like this really make it hard to settle firmly on one side of Sub or Dub. The original VAs for FMAB did a great job, to be clear, but hot damn did the English VA for Roy knock it out of the park.

Some anime I watched as a kid sound better English dubbed.... this show was one of them dubbed version hits much harder
