The shield, “But she’s just a baby”, as an oldest sibling from a deeply abusive home, this hit so incredibly hard. I tried so hard to protect my little sister but I was so scared of my father. These sisters mean everything to me

Man, 2:23:34 is HEARTBREAKING Aelwyn finally started to connect with her sister without fear of their parents, FINALLY able to care for her… and Adaine dies right in front of her. She’s an abjuration wizard, and she couldn’t protect her little sister. Now she’s gone (Except she doesn’t stay gone, obviously!)

1:58:04 theres lots of painful moments but this was what broke me, that despite how much of a powerful wizard Aelwyn is she is still TERRIFIED of her father so much as lifting his hand around her, she's literally an abjuration wizard and she still shrinks in his presence.😢

I love the consistently hilarious bits of Mentopolis, the goofy enthusiastic shenanigans of Starstruck, the wonderful worldbuilding of Unsleeping City... But this is probably still my favourite story that i've seen on D20. I'm so unreasonably happy for these two fictional characters, and their continuing relationship in season 3. Incredibly touching.

This relationship is so illuminating. I admit I did not understand how a ace person who l would approach romance but knowing that Omar confirms Andhera as ace to match his own identity, I feel like I’ve understood the depth possible in their relationships. Truly beautiful.

One insane thing about this show is that (assuming their parents marry) all these kids who didnt know each other a few years ago and became friends somehow ended up legally related. Pretty sure the only one who cant be described as anyone's step-sibling (or adopted sibling) is Kristen. I once manically plotted out their family tree on a pizza box lid and its funny as hell
@simonsonian89773 ай бұрын
Gorgug isn’t related either! However, Jawbone is Kristin’s legal guardian until she turns 18, so she is at least somewhat related to the rest of the group!

1:05:20 is one of my favorite parts of this. It's such a small gesture. Aelwyn, at that point, hasn't really begun repairing her relationship with Adaine. Sure, she's had time to sit and stew, but for all Aelwyn knows, Adaine could think that Aelwyn deserves what she's been through. For all she knows, Adaine hates her. Nonetheless, she refuses to divulge anything about where Adaine is. Even when she's been tortured for nearly a year. Even when Adaine is standing right in front of her and Aelwyn hasn't even seen Adaine's shushing movement. Even battered and broken and terrified, even though she's not been able to show it before, Aelwyn does love her baby sister.

I love Adaine and Aelwyn so much, their story touched me the most out of all the main characters. I loved Ayda and Fig, I loved Fabian discovering himself, I loved Ragh becoming a total bro, but I'm a huge sucker for some wholesome sibling dynamics (even if they don't start out as such).

@@kuno3336 I think you find out who a person is from what they do when they have the power to do whatever they want. I think Arianwen probably really believed that she would stick up for Adaine if she could but she just couldn't because of Angwyn and that was what was stopping her. But when she had the power to choose if she stood with Adaine or not, she just pushed right through and continued rationalizing her horrible behavior and telling herself it was the right thing to do. I think the exchange at 1:48:22 really shows that at this late stage she STILL believes she's on the right side, and that she's done everything right as a parent, and that the loving thing to do is to convince Adaine to join them, and that any means necessary to do that are valid. Her words on their surface really do seem sympathetic even then, and she might even believe them, but her actions when she was given the power to make choices really show who she is. Contrast that with Aelwyn who was verbally cruel and belittling to Adaine and always deferred to their parents at Adaine's expense... but when given the power to either help Adaine or desert her, she chose to have her back, even at her own expense.

By the end of season 2, I spent more time thinking about Adaine and Aelwyn's arc than most of the others. Of course, these guys are all so great that I cared so much about all of their stories, but Adaine's story took most of my attention towards the end
