very mechanically complex if you get a failure on the mechanism your fucked.

Hello , I'm new to Helicopters . I have a 450 SE . My question is the top or large gear spins as it should but the smaller bottom gear witch is the main drive gear doesn't spin at all . Have I forgot part of the Radio commands?. Thanks , Bobby M.

Does it still hold the record? Hard to imagine someone could make an even smaller one.
@johnwakefield7781Ай бұрын
Yep - I've made smaller since the record was set but they cannot fly under control for longer than 6 minutes 56 seconds and therefore not verified by Guinness Records

Excellent. I always wanted an illustration slowed down so I can visualise how this works.❤❤ A simple animation really really is worth its weight in gold here.

But can it turn RIGHT?..or how about a figure "8"...? I smell a possible fraud here...any micro plane properly trimmed could do this with a crude rpm control...true flying would be in a pattern..
@johnwakefield77812 ай бұрын
Right turns were not easy because the torque from the relatively huge prop made it difficult to control, but I made several after the time set by Guinness World Records. This video was heavily edited by the airplane magazine who verified the event. Watch the whole video, it might clear up your bullshit.

Good video. You did leave out what powers the compressor which is the turbine. It’s after the combustion stage and just before the exhaust is shot out creating thrust. The exhaust gasses turn the turbine, in turn turning the compressor which is feeding the high pressure compressed air into the combustion chamber. Add more fuel, the expansion of the combustion gasses increases, forcing the turbine to increase in speed. That causes more air to be forced into the combustion chamber by the compressor, further increasing thrust. If I missed this info being included in the video I apologize. I didn’t hear it mentioned although it was shown in your animation at the end. Great demo of a jet engine though.

I have a Trex 450 I hope to get flying soon, so please dont take offence, but the idea of grown men playing with toy helicopters seems kind of ridiculous.I dont like the 2.4 ghz stuff. Too glitchy. With 35mhz even with interference you keep some control, at least enough to dump it somewhere safe.

Did my abinitio training and 3 'A and B' solo flights on a T49 Capstan. Still gliding 56 years later. The T21b that the T49 replaced was modified to remove the central support column on one glider and called the T21c. I flew it at Keevil Wiltshire UK in 1977. Going back to the T49 Capstan there are still some left. One at Challock and one at Lasham at least.

Is the spring needed?
@DanielBallinger2 ай бұрын
Consider what happens when the servo tries to return the pin to the starting position. Because of the size of the ring it can't push the pin back into place. That is my assumption of what the spring is to address. It helps the pin slide back as the servo returns the the starting position. The alternative would have been to make the ring on the end of the pin much smaller so it naturally pushes back as well. Although that might not be as smooth as the spring.
