I was there, took my younger sister and her mate. We were right at the front until the second song and they both were helped over the barrier. Was also working there at the time. Great night and an amazing live band.

And here it is, the concert I was *supposed* to go to but was working nights and my opposite wouldn't swap. I still remember his name. I have a doll. And pins.

In my view the best song of All About Eve as a band, I adore this song (no I'm not religious :) if you really know the lyrics). The sound on this album is very mature. Martha's harbour is at that level as well, but so different. Could have, should have, underrated, you name it.

Hard to believe that was over 20 years ago. I last saw them in '91. Spending the last day and a half revisiting this band has made an old goth very happy!

Thank you so much for sharing this! I saw them on this tour at the UEA in Norwich. They opened the show with Every Angel then, but, like this gig, they played Shelter From the Rain and Paradise. I saw them again at the UEA in '89 and they did open that show with She Moves, there was a sea fog of dry ice and Mark scared the hell out of everyone with his opening kick drum as nobody saw him come on stage! It sent shivers down my spine hearing it again. I'd forgotten just how magical Eve were.

I can still picture the lounge of my old flat in London in 1989 where I finally opened the CD of the first AAE album that to my shame as a gift from my brother had been sitting unopened for a few months. It was a total revelation and from that moment on I was hooked. My first experience of seeing them live was at the Albert Hall in April the following year and we were all taken aback by the devotion of the fans and how utterly brilliant they were live. My friend Ian who some may have describe as somewhat cynical was particularly impressed. " they didn't drop a note" he said over and over as we headed out into the night air! Magical...

Didn't they have the drummer from Xmal Deutschland around this time? I hadn't realised they gigged with the drum machine.

Jeez, Mark's kit is SO 1989. The bloody size of it with crashes all over the place mounted high up and all around. I bet they're all Zildjians too!

They were just the best live band in the world at that moment and really should be households names. Just phenomenal. I saw them two weeks before this on this tour and it was the first "proper" gig I ever went to. Been to many hundreds since but that one still probably stands as the greatest. I've occasionally wondered whether I've just become a jaded cynic and if that was my 100th gig rather than my first I'd have been less bowled over. Good to see my memory was right: they were just brilliant.

OMG How did you find this?! I had just started my new job at Royal Mail and my manager took pity on me when I said I had bought a ticket a few weeks back but couldn't go now. He let me have the last two hours off so I could go to the Guildhall just around the corner. Thanks for posting! P.S I am still in the same job so if there is any chance of a reunion lol.

Excellent! Saw them at the Royal Albert Hall back in the day, but didn't know about them in '85. And didn't know they had all these songs they never released. Love this version of In The Clouds! And love all the unreleased songs, except perhaps Suppertime.

Have their albums and taped their shows from radio broadcasts back in the 80s and 90s, then they disappeared! Heard they'd split up.
