Always enjoy listening to Joel Salatin. Each time, I learn something new and helpful! God created a beautiful world, and we are stewards of it, no matter what you believe. I appreciate Joel giving us practical advice and encouragement about redeeming the environment and making it beneficial for all creatures, and fruitful for humans. I also appreciate hearing and the affirming truth about how government has negatively impacted us, but we (in unity) can be good stewards of how God designed it for more satisfying, joyful experiences and better health! Joel's joy for regenerative farming is infectious and helps motivate me to keep going and growing. :)

As a land user the most valuable (and human only) contribution is to know the hows and whys of using compost teas and sprays. Relatively cheap, requires applications of knowledge nature hasn't directly provided and provides a huge impact on the crop or paddock which compounds into its next use: assuming no ignorance-based abuse to the soil in between. Scalable AF. YT Sources: Dr. Elaine Ingham

Folic acid is not naturally occurring anywhere so it should not be used as a metric in nutrition and about 50% of the population can’t use it and is harmed by it

What types of compost extract would you use for strictly perennial pastures? C:N ratios? And Bacterial to Fungal Ratios? Do you have any recourses for answering these type of questions? Thank you.
@smartsoil5 ай бұрын
G'day Riley, great question! Unfortunately, I'm not qualified to answer this. However, I can refer you to Dr Mary Cole's & Dr Elaine Ingham's work to find out more about compost specifics. The compost they are referring to in this particular video is a Johnson-Su composting set-up that Ian & Di have constructed themselves on their farm. They are using this system to make a fungal-dominant compost. I can't share the C:N ratio because as far as I'm aware, they haven't had it tested. Thanks for watching!

I’m glad l watched this, I’m a regenerative ag farmer and about to put in 200 eucalypts for shelter and to increase the soil depth, but was concerned about the fire risk. Had never considered oak. Great idea

Holy smokes this was mind blowing. So much of our salvation in not in the skys but within the earth herself. Question is; can we become humble enough to reach down instead of crying up.

God created the universe and Adam and Eve with perfect regenerative bodies in the garden of Eden. The hand of a "great designer" is evident in the complexity of all of creation. We just have to open our eyes. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, abd without him was not any thing made that was made In him was life, and the life was the LIGHT of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." ESV John 1:1-5 Man has totally screwed up our immune systems with vaccinations which has led to a huge surge in childhood diseases. Read the recent book: "Turtles All The Way Down - Vaccine Science and Myth" and the book "Vax-Unvax: Let the Science Speak" by CHD to learn more.

what a video! Non-farmer here. But how do the sheep know to do 'toileting' on the bare, compacted dirt?
@kerrryschultz29044 ай бұрын
Dianne Haggerty said that the sheep have their nose to the ground and can probably smell the difference from the microbes in the degraded soils. Many years ago I worked at a feedlot with about 2000 animals on feed and I was responsible to make sure that the feed bunks had feed. We would feed 2 times a day and I had a notepad that I kept track of how much feed to mix up per animal per pen. You didn't want them to run out of feed because that can cause acidosis in the rumen, but in winter you didn't want a great excess that would freeze in the minus 30-35F weather. It was a bit of a balancing act. The owner came to me and asked me about a number of pens that had cleaned up the feed run of corn barley silage. I took out the note book and said that all the pens were on an increasing amount per feeding and I couldn't seem to match what they required from say 5 days ago. He said a winter storm is coming. He and the cattle were right. The cattle about 3 days before the storm would start to gorge themselves and the morning before the storm they only ate about 3/4 of what was put out. Had to hand shovel about 9 tons of silage as waste so it would freeze to the concrete feeders. Animals know things that we humans don't perceive. And we think we are the smart ones?
