"Street Life," that wonderful track with lyrics by the magnificent Will Jennings! One of my bands performed it as a popular number in our vast repertoire and I was lucky enough to sing lead! Just one of several tracks that always got the crowd moving! Back then, barely ANY patrons of the clubs ever sat at their tables. They would dart up to their drink, down it in one chug and back to the dance floor it was! I remember getting home at daylight, popping in the shower, fixing my face and hair and going straight to the office (paralegal) with not one moment of sleep! And I was never even tired! That was quite the feat because I didn't even do blow! I worked an office job by day and was in the house band at a local hotel. It was Key West in the eighties - I lived there from 76-85 and it was a BRILLIANT time to be alive and to be on that magical island! Mid eighties it began to be overtaken by the uber wealthy and, of course, they f*ck everything up. A unique place that is artsy, quaint and cool, the first thing the rich do, when they discover it, is capitalize on the thing that makes it unique, and cash in, tearing down classic structures and slapping up cookie cutter condos and timeshares. Why must they ruin everything? Same thing happened in St. Thomas! I finally ran out of islands, so I got a small farm in rural Tennessee. It's marvelous, but the politics are wretched- especially since 2016! 😲😢

When the Sixers flew back home to Philly after nailing the 1983 NBA Championship, I was lucky enough to be standing by the fence at the air field with none other than Miss Patti LaBelle! She was so lovely! She brought drinks and snacks that she graciously shared with me. We were both jumping up and down excitedly when Moses Malone came walking past. Of course, he recognized Patti, so he shook my hand, as well! This was quite a bit before cell phones, so all I have of this exciting occasion are the beautiful memory that exists in my heart and mind!

Venus by shocking blue is a rock song, perhaps with some dance elements, but no way it can be considered part of the disco/funk/r&b genre

Yes, I'm over 70 now but listening to this compilation I'm only in my twenties again. This was THE decade for brilliant music, delivered by such talented musicians, who didn't cheat with electronics but played real instruments with proficiency and their singing lived up to the same talent.

There is a guy on here (DJ Rob Van Dijck ) that has the exact same video on his channel as this. Seeing how this was posted two years ago and his was posted two months ago I just don't think it's right to rip off someone else's work . BTW ..His comments are shut off on his video .
