I want to add the fact that the writers did an extraordinary job in portraying the emotions, I read somewhere it took nearly 5 years to conplete the whole script, some lines said by Jang Hyun/Gil Chae are literally embedded in my brain and I can never forget those !

I think even with that quick explanation, it still seems cheap and not very well thought out because how are we supposed to believe through MULTIPLE generations that this secluded group of humans (we're also led to believe there's more else where) survived the simean flu while also retaining such a strong sense of human culture and percect english?? It just seems to tight knit and honestly would make more sense if this took place directly after war

I agree and I think this whole concept of trying to make contact with other human colonies would’ve made more sense during/immediately after War of the Planet of the Apes. We know that humans living in the Vault definitely had books that may have reminded them that they were superior than apes (scene where Noa/Mae break into the vault). But for those living underground/vault, as years went by was each generation reminded that they had to try and make contact with the outside world? I wonder it would’ve been more plausible if their contact with other colonies was similar to the Eagle Clan i.e completely unaware that other ape clans existed like Raka’s or Proximis Caesar. Although it’s not clear whether Noa thought his clan was the only ape clan on the planet or whether he knew there are other clans but was unsure on their identity/name.

WHAT?? okay let me respond to each one of your points. Cause these were not true. The Speaking thing of humans: The virus indeed makes the humans lose their intelligence allong with their speach. But I see you are confused as to why we see some humans acting like zebras and some being in bunkers in full brain capacity in check. Did you look at the film lol?? They were in bunkers, THAT is how they survived, passing on knowdlege of how the world used to be and looking for ways to restore it and set themselves back at the top of the food chain. That is the whole reaseon Mae goes to the other bunker to get the floppy disk so they can try to communicate with other survivers and maybe work on a cure for the virus. If you saw a zombie movie and you would see humans in a bunker would you question their survival or be like "Ohh so that is how they survived" Yes some humans still turned dumb, maybe because they didnt make it to a bunker for some reason, wouldnt that be perfectly logical? We saw the same thing starting to happen to Woody's character in the previouse film. So it doesnt make sence for them to have to relearn English or speak in a forgotten broken tongue. Because the movie litterally SHOWED us how the humans were able to survive! You mentioned how in the orginal trilogy the humans spoke broken english, but did you not also see the hidden civilatation living beneath the ground?? How come they are able to speak and think intelectually, maybe because they survived and hit from what caused others to go dumb? Caecers legacy: Im sorry where in War did you see apes (plural) being able to read? Sure some could, and tried to teach others. But at the same time that was happening caecer died and probrably so did the need read as we clearly see in this movie that different groups have their own believes and takes on the ideoligy of Caecer. Dont forget caecer had the virus in his genes, while others were jsut exposed to it. Hence why he is smarter and can speak more easily. Most of these apes can bearly speak properly and you think they were able to read? I think some may have like the orangatangs because they are smarter buyt most defintely not all apes. You also contradict yourselve, first saying that their indeed might not have been much use for them to be able to read and write but later saying they showed have evolved to be able to read and write. Wich is it? What in their daily lives would initiate their evolvement? I see no need for them to start reading as it would have little us. All their laws are passed down in words, unless a situation would require it. The apes would not try to learn to write down their laws or anything else. You also say they have GENUIS level intellect, uhm what lmao. Sure they are smart but not GENUIS, clearly show by their still primitive way of living. Maybe in furture movies but not in this one lol Also you mentioned that Mae, trevethan and other humans can easily read, but where in War did we see humans not being able to read? And as I mentioned earlier their intellect is still in tact because they HID from the virus. My take: This film opened a very interesting plotline about Caecer's ideology, and how after his death his ideals and ways are being rememberd very differently depending on what ape you ask. As you later mention some (Proximus) have twisted it for their own greed and personal gains. The movie also showed how others (Eagle clan) have comepletely lost it, and some (Raka) have tried to keep it in its orginal state. While i noticed in my viewing that Raka even exaggerating it a little by saying man and ape lived side by side wich obvousily never happened, but it was probably derrived from Caecer being raised by a human. This is why the timeskip is important to move the plot in this interesting direction of conflict of ideaoly especially with the humans still around. And how this is closer to the book and original film, who focus on the future where apes are smarter then humans, wich i think will become even more notacible in the next sequels hinted at by the ending of them looking into space. I feel like there is some merit to your points, but that would be nitpicking. The movie does great with the time skip and handeling the different plot lines. Let me know your toughts. Sorry for any spelling mistakes, I am not natively english.

To the first point, I think even if they were in bunkers it wouldn’t have guaranteed their safety from being infected by the virus as we have seen with things like covid lockdowns. Though from War of the Planet of the Apes, I’m still not sure whether the simian flu was airborne or transmitted from the blood. The Colonel executed a few people but how they contracted the virus is still unclear. The colonel for sure contracted it by coming into contact with Nova’s doll. It’s also mystery whether the neuro-degenerative strain of the Simian flu only affected the colonel’s troops or travelled when those troops came into contact with others like the northern army that they were originally part of and they may have come into to contact with others etc. The second point, in the opening scenes of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Maurice has written Caesar’s laws on the wall and can be seen teaching them to the younglings. In War of the Planet of the Apes, Caesar is able to read the words on the food packages that Bad Ape gives him, so I’d say that apes at that point in time knew how to read. Overall, I do agree they did a good job jumping the timeline rather than focusing on Cornelius/directly after Caesar’s death but a lot of unanswered questions but I’m hoping that we get more clarification in the next films

i think the biggest flaw of the movie was thinking that we the audience WANT to see humans “reclaim their glory”. Like nah dawg i wanna see monkeys go wild

Hahahahaha facts. I mean we get it at some point humans will want to reclaim what their “rightful place” (as they emphasise through the film). But they really brushed over things such as how did the humans learn how to speak again so eloquently 😂

@@iamkozzie i think it very much leans into your point about there being no precedent for it leading up to this movie. “War” sort of made a point about humanity making a final stand before being washed away to make way for the apes, even further that point was that humans would exterminate themselves before apes even had the chance to. in my opinion, Kingdom would’ve been much better off without any intelligent human characters, and proximus caesar’s obsession with humanity would’ve been more compelling if it was purely based around his own thoughts and opinions of what humanity was like rather than what he’s learned about them through some random guy

'Shogun' is based on a novel written by James Clavell, who was an Australian/American writer with a great love for Asian history. He wrote more than just one novel and covered more than just one time period of Japan. If the TV series 'Shogun' does well, I'm confident we'll get a TV show based on 'Gai-Jin' as well. 'Gai-Jin' is Clavell's book about 19th century Japan, the end of the Edo period, the increasing Western influences in Japan and with it the increasing hostilities between Westerners and Japanese people. It is an excellent sequel to 'Shogun'.

It’s because the skirt sits under her bust instead of at her waist or hips and has a loose, wide silhouette. It’s a style commonly found in maternity wear because it goes over the belly completely

@@CreoTan ohh haha the skirt/치마/chima always sat under the 저고리/jeogori. You can still see this style in modern hanboks. The jeogori/저고리 also got shorter towards the end of the joseon era but the skirt/치마/chima was always worn underneath the upper garment.

I came here to vent.....that movie is extremely annoying. Ep 1 and 2 we're extremely boring, it picked up at episode 3 and started being boring again at episode 7 and became extremely annoying at ep 10.....I can't even finish this episode.....ugh!!!!!!

Please acknowledge the fantastic book by James Clavell on which this series is based. It is his work that has allowed the series producers to add colour, historical touches and so on, because he did so much research into the historical aspects, people, and roles, then put it together in a terrific story line. Credit where credit is due.

Blackthorne mentions "his queen", because the real life William Adams AKA "Miura Anjin" served under Sir Francis Drake in Queen Elizabeth I 's Royal Navy and fought against the Spanish Armada, before joining the Dutch Expedition to Japan. ( The Protestant Dutch were allies of England during the war against Spain.) He was a very educated man, a navigator trained in astronomy, math and ship building, who spoke several languages. The real life "Miura Anjin" is a highly regarded historical figure in Japan. The first European who was made Samurai. There are not just one, but several memorials for him & his Japanese wife, a museum & also an annual festival in Ito City, near the natural springs and the bay, where he had build a trading port. The letters he wrote back home are also available and a great historical source about feudal Japan. He writes in detail about the customs and traditions. After Tokugawa took power, Adams negotiated a trade treaty between the Shogunate & the Queen of England and Tokugawa send a suit of Samurai armor as a gift to London. It is now exhibited in the Tower of London museum.

I’m interested if the trade lasted long because it would be have been established almost around the time of Elizabeth I’s death and King James’ accession. We know that there’s the 1635 sakoku-rei but wonder what was traded, extent of the trade and its value over the ~30 years.

@@iamkozzie From what I remember, the Brits imported mostly silk from Japan & Adams also organized some trade expeditions to Vietnam and "Siam" ( today's Thailand). But all this ended after Ieyasu's grandson took over as Shogun and isolated Japan. Adam's letters are available though, if you're interested and he writes in Detail about Japan. I remember in one of them, he describes the legal courts of the Shogun and how their justice system worked.

Well, watching them melt away within 48 hours felt so good, and yes, I used what I mentioned the other day. It actually took a bit more to make them totally disappear, I just go’ogled Melissa Thanderski and the pain unexpectedly disappeared so quickly.

@@iamkozzie The detail in the history and culture is lacking to me, the intrigue and complexity surrounding feudal Japan at that time. So many things! Even the characters. Blackthorne was far more interesting and intelligent in the book and so was Mariko. How they grew to love each other was well developed in the book and seemed rushed and cheap in this adaptation. And this is coming from a guy.

One thing for sure if they wants japan game of thrones then make period drama 1. from 1447/ mid 13th century to 1590 upto battle of eastern and weatern front .( But what they made is after this given period😂😂). 2. Genpei war ( hero taira no kiyomori rebel aganist emperor go shirawkawa ... Like the north on the lanisters 😂). 3 . During 1227 mongol invasion in japan like ,.. dorthoroki attack on westoros. 4 . Motohiro / imperial rebellion in 1331 by emperor on shoguns to remove kamakura shogunate system like .... Lanisters on the north during geoffry rule. 5. Onin wars cant compare but huge war . Truly one sad thing is. where is sanada clan or sanada yukimura greatest 3 sumrai of japan who played key in his last battle with ieyasu . Turning point of tokugawa shogunate .😢😢😢 If any of you want real japan history go watch taiga dramas from 2008 to 2024 ongoing . And can anyone suggest some real tv drama based on korean history not 🚫🚫 the drama where emperor and his wife love story .. a true depiction of politics happened in korean history . Love korea from india ( request to be least racist and less accept american /western vulgar culture , now in india we view South Korea and japan as vassals for america )
