I have question about a clutch cable....I got the old one out but i cannot get the new one into the hole to push it in to hook it up and wonder if there is a easy way to do that ? I have been trying to get this clutch cable in for about two weeks now and still cant do it. Is there a trick to it or some easier way to get that in ?
@AirkewldVWsАй бұрын
Depending on the year will depend on the location of where the cable will enter. backhanding the cable by feeling for the tube and routing it by hand has always worked in the past. You can try installing one of these - www.airkewld.com/Chassis-Inspection-Plate-Kit-2701-p/2701.htm and it will make it a breeze. Good luck.

@@jamesbaber1582 Do you have a mirror and a flashlight? Put the mirror in the pedal assembly hole in the tunnel and shine a flashlight at the mirror to locate the tube. Then it should be easy to locate.

I wonder how hard it would be to install an either a 901 transaxle (type 4 Porsche) or a 915 (from a 911) into this chassis. I have a 72 beetle that I want a high output type 4 or a 3.2 911 in to my beetle.

But what about the shock mounts?? @airkewld
@AirkewldVWsАй бұрын
What about them Mr. Big?
@bighammer587Ай бұрын
@@AirkewldVWs 😆 Well I did a little research after having made the comment.. I was unaware that people were running VW’s w/o front shocks. I recently purchased a 69 with the narrower front beam and it’s made with no upper shock towers / mounts. I’m interested in fabricating something but it’s a full steel body, so the towers would be coming up into the trunk area! Unless I can angle them outboard for clearance. What thinks you? 🤔
@AirkewldVWsАй бұрын
@@bighammer587My question is why are you wanting them? If you aren't building a cruiser, swap out the beam to a version that has them. If your are just building a cruiser, tell me why you think you need shocks up front.
@bighammer587Ай бұрын
@@AirkewldVWs Yes, she’s a cruiser.. I bought it with a seized engine so I haven’t driven it. I was under the impression that to be streetable, it would need shocks to keep it from being so bouncy! But maybe it’s not the case if people are doing this. I have no idea why someone put this front beam in the car, it’s not even lowered 😆
@bighammer587Ай бұрын
@@AirkewldVWs I’m an old school guy, this is new to me. My last bug was a 66 bug that I had back in the eighties. We called it “slammed” back then because it looked like a scrubbing bubble. But that was before the lowering spindles became available, AFAIK. It had a nice stance, but nowhere near what people are doing today.
Im building a 70 beetle convertible and your builds keep me pushing and motivated to complete mines thanks really cool stuff
