So the gap on mine is .028 inch and i get very visible snipes on both end.

I'll take a look at mine once I find my feeler gauge. I'm wondering if any play could develop in the rollers or what the gap between the rollers and the bed is. I want to measure, if possible, the gap between the rollers and the table and see if it's the same between the two rollers. Like maybe one roller is slightly higher than the other, allowing the board to move up when entering and exiting the planer.

That might be actually a better measurement. Let me mess around with my planer over the weekend and report back my measurements. Thanks for the idea!

There must be a way to fix it internally because I had zero snipe when I first got it. Also, I've seen people make a sled out of MDF and that seems to work pretty well. But I'm not sure that it fully addresses the issue. Either way, sofa king annoying in a tool that costs so much money. 😡

This is a good data point you brought up, thank you. I don't remember my DW735 not having snipes at first - this could be just my memory lapse. If what you observed is gradual snipe setting in, there must be something messing up the placement of either the in/out feed rollers or the knife roller over time. If i find time to disassemble and find potential cause for it (and hopefully a fix) i will make a follow up video. This has been such an annoying issue that persisted so long...

Yes, incredibly frustrating. I should not have to use a sled for such a costly machine. Nor should I have to fix what seems like a defect.

Yea a lot of these snip fix videos with the 735 confuse me because mine has no snipe out of the box, just slapped on the tables and never had an issue. My old benchtop had a ton of snipe no matter what I did, even with a sled it had snipe. I wonder if something wears over time creating more movement with the wood.

@@FuturePrimitiveWCit has to be something like that. I'm guessing its related to the roller tension on the wood. It has to be

Gents, would you measure the gap between the straight line from infeed and outfeed roller using a straight edge or a metal ruler and the lowest position of the knife on the cutter roller? I think we are onto something given you guys had/have a DW735 with no snipe. I am going to measure it after my day job and post here.

Sawstop couldn’t fix the hydraulic? I’m getting one soon and am on the fence on whether getting the pcs mobile base or the industrial one you have. I work out of a 2 car garage and plan to move the saw every time I work as I share the garage with a car. Hope you find a solution soon.

In all fairness, I haven’t contacted Sawstop. I managed to fix it by applying a little pressure on the top of the pump. I highly recommend you get the industrial mobile base.

Nice shop. Too bad you need the home, appliances in there as there’s some nice space for more woodworking tools or storage.😊

Beautiful table! I was really looking forward to seeing how you applied the polyurethane on your table. I have a large table that I’m working on and wished I could have seen how you applied your last few coats of poly. I did enjoy the video great job.

If I had the space I would have used a compressed air spray gun but I had to resort to rubbing on water based poly. Rubbing it on won’t give the consistency the sprayers give so I had to use the maroon pad after each coat to try to even out. I only applied poly on the top and side of the table but I can now see how my kids can smear stuff on the bottom surface of the table. Good luck with your table!

@@201Custom Thank you for such a quick response. I also thought about using a wipe on poly it would be great if you could recommend a good brand. Thanks in advance.

Varathane water based poly from homedepot is what I use. Not sure it’s the best poly out there but I get consistent outcome. Some will suggest you dilute it for wipe on application but I get better results by not diluting and soaking a clean rag then wiping it on then come back with a 3M maroon pad on an orbital sander to even out the sheen. Rinse and repeat 2-3 times, you will get a solid layer of protection with matte/satin finish. Hope this helps and good luck on your table!
