Even though this is a few yrs old, thank you for good video. I wish you did a test where your second node, in your bedroom, connected to a device with ethernet to see the speed difference. So it would be wireless backhaul configuration, with ethernet to a device. But, still good video :D

Thanks for your Video and your effort. A 1440p Monitor is to Slim...not big enough to have a good gaming feeling ( for me at Last). So this Monitor is absolutly perfect for gaming in 1440p and 2160p. I use a GTX 3080 TI ( payed 2 years for it) and i would realy like to use a Monitor this size. ( ..not rich enough) for MSFS 202 or Nascar Heat 5...or for other games. Yeah 60 HZ is enough.

Long waited on the matrix that was used in Huawei MateView but from decent vendor and such a shame. 1. Lack of USB-C ports. 2. Speakers 2W?? Insanely little. My latitude 7200 2-in-1 sounds better 3. Audio Jack just out, no mic in 4. 7.5 W charging power for your mobile device. Seriously? 5. No Etherley. 50/50

I just wish it was 120 Hz. I'm so used to 120 Hz gaming panels at this point, even for work, it's just hard to go backwards. (Then again, I've always been sensitive to 60 Hz refresh since the days of CRTs. Had to set them to 75 Hz or I got migraines.)
@bren.r
@bren.r 27 күн бұрын
I second this. And I hate how 120 Hz is synonymous with “gaming”. Any monitor that isn’t 120 Hz minimum is an absolute deal breaker for me.

High refresh rate will lead to worse picture quality and worse quality control e.g. more defects and backlight bleed. "bUt I nEeD 120hZ fOr bRoW-" Stop playing competitive sweaty games and branch out for once! You cringy gamers need to stop forcing everything to be gaming-focused for your corrupted minds.

Thanks for this very helpful video. Your excel information was so practical and exactly what I wanted to know, except that you didn't mention rows. I'm trying to work out how many rows would be visible on a 43 inch 4K Dell Ultrasharp vs a 40" 5k like this one. Any ideas?
@kalestarler
@kalestarler 14 күн бұрын
Going by native resolution wise, 5K would have more columns, same number of rows. Text would feel much smaller on the 5K though

It depends what you're doing, but I think for work that is an ergonomic downgrade going from the ultrawide to that. My neck got strained after some months. Too much up and down, the ultrawide feels like two monitors in one.

how is it now ? still using? I think if sitting close- then its non-ergonomic- too close, if sitting further then text is too small...so.. no point in 43', its too big for multipurpose monitor. Tthey are good for console gaming.

It is more than 1 year already. Are you still using this same portable monitor ? How often do you travel with it? Is it always in your bag? My concerns are regarding to its durability. Saw many posts on reddit telling that OLED displays are very very very fragiles. Do you think this is the case for Asus Zenscreen OLED in the model you are using? Please let us know what you think ;) Thank you!

I think there's probably a sweet spot! If you're too far back, it's probably only good for videos and movies (and some games). For work, you can't be too far back to read text. I guess it's more about what the primary usage is for this workspace

So, over a YEAR after you got this monitor there are still only these panels on the market at this resolution. I ordered one through Lenovo in November last year and it is finally on its way in February 2024. Can you believe those supply chain delays? I suppose it's not that bad - considering I have been waiting for FPGA hardware for over 12 months due to supply chains! Anyway, thank you for your review. It's basically the ONLY review for this monitor - anywhere! These Lenovo monitors seem to be rare as hen's teeth. I was sold by the same things that got you - resolution, thunderbolt, kvm, ergonomics. Also, Lenovo pricing for pro accounts is quite aggressive, so it's much cheaper than the equivalent LG, HP, or DELL - at least in Australia.

Hi there. Great video, but I have some questions that you might be able to help me with. 1) May I check if all of your tuya zigbee devices work with zigbee2mqtt? I recently hop on to HA too, but I'm currently just using the tuya cloud integration, which kind of serve no purpose in my switching to HA :( 95% of my devices are from tuya, so I was thinking to make it local based. 2) For the wifi tuya devices, does the local tuya integration work well? I have wifi sockets, power tracks, doorbell camera, IR remote, IR RF remote that are wifi based. As my cloud based tuya does not show me my IR and IR RF remote, I'm not sure if it can work. I did try to set up local tuya but I hit a roadblock and gave up after 2 hours to go back to my cloud based tuya. 3) Do you use zigbee IR Remote? Does home assistant allows you to set up the controllers? Thank you in advance and sorry for the wordy message
@kalestarler
@kalestarler 6 ай бұрын
1) the smart knob didn't work at first (maybe earlier in first half 2023?), but in some subsequent update of zigbee2mqtt, it started working. At this moment all my tuya and ikea zigbee devices work with no issues. 2) localtuya works, but seems to have a failure rate. From all the reddit threads, I think it's related to some callback it does to the tuya servers, and updating of the device token that localtuya uses to control them within the local network. There are some workarounds, but my conclusion was to get rid of the wifi lights and swap to zigbee. Lol For IR and RF remote, there should be zigbee equivalents. I also started with a WiFi IR device, but eventually swapped back to zigbee. 3) You need to learn and program the IR codes manually, that's the only drawback. No out-of-the-box UI that works with your devices, unlike in the Tuya/SmartLife apps. I suppose there might be blueprints available, but I didn't go search - I just did the learning manually for the IR commands I wanted to use

I would say the usage flow is different. In terms of raw screen resolution, you are still losing out a bit, since it's 2 x 2560x1440 vs 1 x 3840x2160. But it depends on what part of your workflow or entertainment use that you prioritize

Nice genuine feedback. For the light switches, I (slightly) glued my ZigBee one over the old switches... But I stacked a custom made 3d printed white rectangle "spacer" in between. The spacer covers fully the old switch, and I can I remove it if needed (I also rent the apartment), but that wasn't necessary even a single time on 3 years. And the switch stays on as no one has access on it. Voilà !

Zigbee, I might get more zigbee. I have a couple of tuya devices that I planned to experiment with to automate stuff but I might reconsider and invest in zigbee as I see your vid. I definitly tried looking in getting the tuya disconnected from their servers and might even want to get different firmware on them. might aswell safe time and just buy zigbee lights instead. (only have 2 lights and 2 poweroutlet switches tuya, one Ikea zigbee light controller. no reciever yet) Thanks for the video :D and eh... yeah, my spouse will complain, im sure... and my hacker brain about the hackability of my home. time for secure vlans and iot wifi ap seperate from the normal wifi somehow. (and HA as a secure bridge)
@kalestarler
@kalestarler 7 ай бұрын
I'm using a Wireguard instance for home vpn. Secure HA is the way to go! (Except when your ISP goes down for maintenance). Lol Yup, switched to all Zigbee over time! I really like the Ikea bulbs. Last thing to do is replace the 3 ceiling lights and my Zigbee overhaul would be complete. (IR controllers also switched to Zigbee as well, but much more troublesome to setup the AC controls with those, but all doable!)
