I'm pretty sure copying someone's data without permission is a crime. Also pretty sad that these guys did that because the matches are on camera and it's pretty easy to analyze the footage and make your own comparison to proof that he's cheating. Or to implement a rule for tournaments that requires someone to check if a console hasn't been modded.

I mean they did that to make sure he was cheating? Would you have rather them have just done basically 0 detective work and just start accusing him of stuff?

@@JustLikeYou. They broke the law to figure it out. I guess you'd also think it's okay to just break into someone's house because you suspect them of something, despite not having any solid evidence yet. Being a cheater isn't always a crime. But copying data the way they did it is.

@@thenonexistinghero i would love a citation where it says copying the data from a video game console is illegal lmao cause of course stealing someone’s actual data like their passwords SSN etc. is an actual crime but a modded copy of melee is not “his data” because he doesn’t own melee. literally nothing “is his” and if anything his Wii is modded and has “pirated software” so he is actual “breaking the law”. Regardless I mean I wouldn’t want anyone breaking into my house for any reason? If you were going to use an analogy why not just use the exact scenario that happened instead of one that involves an actual crime lmao like your example is something completely different to what happened and the fact you’re trying to use that as a comparison is hilarious

@@JustLikeYou. It is illegal to copy someone else's private data. Doesn't matter if it's a game console, it's still a computer. The data is on his personal SD card that he bought with his own money. It doesn't matter what's on it, copying the data without permission is a crime (not to mention the fact that he very well could've had things like passwords and private sex videos on it).

@@thenonexistinghero lmao yes IF he had those things on their it would have been a crime lmao but there wasn’t so it wasn’t a crime. Again give me an actual citation from literally any website that supports that claim cause I can’t seem to find it. All I see is actual PRIVATE DATA laws. But apparently it’s now HIS private data just because it’s on a SD card he purchased? That’s not how that works at all my guy lmao he “owns” none of that data. Just because it’s on his SD doesn’t magically make melee his property? The only thing that is “his property” is the SD. Literally all of the data pertaining to melee is free game. Again there COULD have been anything on that SD card but it was literally just pirated video game data

I remember watching that video back in the day, and EVEN I... who's far from being a pro and more on the casual side, I COULD notice how wrong that Pichu was, as I remembered Pichu being worse than that, I hope this kind of stuff never happens again, at least this could give ideas for making an actual comunity rebalance or something like that.

I think that noticing a big hitbox when you are already prepped to think a guy is cheating is a very different skill from noticing it when you don't have any reason to believe anything is wrong. I don't personally have every little bit of Pichu's frame data memorized so I think that it's a little full of yourself to assume tha--okay I would have seen that side smash killing at 45%.

a lot of high level players, especially fox mains, typically know their percents and what characters can kill at what percents and what those kill moves are. But I also think that this is a low tier character that people hardly play against, so they’re inexperienced in the matchup and probably don’t know his kill moves. If those hit boxes were attached to fox, people would immediately know somethings off.

I feel like if something like a Pichu in Melee suddenly deciding to stage dive off after you into the blast zone to try and spike you, *_THAT'S_* your red flag

Nah the dude literally would not play on anyone's setup other than his the very first thing I'd ask if he refused to play on someone else's is if he's cheating and refuse to play him until he played on a different machine you people are just too trusting. If it doesn't make sense they're probably up to no good
