I gulu is the perfect example of why a controlled fermentation is so important
@BitterRealityBrewing6 күн бұрын
Bingo, you nailed it! This probably one of my favorite parts of this equipment as I feel it will show even people who have never brewed it is possible to make great beer as long as you have good temp control during fermentation.
@tenba10ish13 күн бұрын
Do you siphon off the trub or does it stay until you finish drinking the beer?
@BitterRealityBrewing6 күн бұрын
You have two options. You can drink it right off the trub as it won't impact the flavor or aroma in the short run. (Long term it can impact things.) My personal option when moving the kegs to take on road trips is to move the finished beer to another keg by creating a jumper with the existing connectors. This allows you to move the beer off of the trub.
@KyL192014 күн бұрын
Hey Mike! I've been watching a lot of your videos recently, especially regarding the iGulu system. In this short Im hoping you could elaborate on the "Jumper" line for dry hopping, adding flavoring, etc. would you be willing to post a video demonstrating how you perform this process? I would greatly appreciate it, as I had the same idea when I was looking at the new S1 videos today. I am making hard apple cider currently, but want to add in some ingredients at the end of brewing. I believe all I would do is turn the CO2 off, bleed the pressure, attach the jumper (pre-sanitized), and then turn the CO2 back on on on the initial fermentation keg, but am unsure if the ideal filling pressure would be ~15 psi as suggested in the new bottling videos. Also, I’m thinking I would attach the CO2 to the empty secondary keg to purge it of O2 prior. Thanks for your time!
@BitterRealityBrewing6 күн бұрын
Sorry for the delay. I swore I made a video about that, but obviously haven't posted it yet. Essentially you will need a 2nd keg of course, and you can take the black connector for both kegs, but simply pull one out of the tube it is connected to and connect it to the opposite end of the one that you didn't disconnect it from. You will have one tube with a black liquid connector on both ends. Purge the fresh, clean keg with some CO2, and then simply connect the jumper from both liquid posts (the one with liquid and the fresh keg). The liquid will start flowing but you will need to purge the CO2 off the fresh keg occasionally due to the pressure equalizing. The iGulu F1 chills really quick and has the CO2 adapter built in. The iGulu S1 can take up to 24 hours to chill and the CO2 adapter is extra.
@stevechubb443116 күн бұрын
Thank you for response. I understand how to vent the beer daily for brewing to 10 psi. How did you control the product to serve at 12 psi? the CO2 control seems to be either on or off fully. Yes, it does show on back the valve handle with gradients but there is no real adjustment…just on or off. Guess I am a little slow. Typically I am seeing the beer when ready to serve at 12.5 PSI or higher. Thank you for any advice
@BitterRealityBrewing6 күн бұрын
Sorry for the delay (from Vacation to COVID...been a rough two weeks). Once mine was at serving temp it usually stay really close to 12 psi automatically (usually like 11.9 to 12.3 psi). If yours isn't, try updating the firmware and if that doesn't resolve it, reach out to iGulu to see if they can assist.

Something is seriously wrong with you pH meter. Your tap water (not recommended), spring water, or even distilled water should all be really close to a pH of 7. When adding the malts, your wort should drop to around 5 +/- and usually lower based on the malts. I would strongly recommend checking this out as it is a great deal at $45 (with a $15 coupon) plus it includes 3 pre-made liquid ph solutions for testing and calibration,. Amazing deal as that 11 really scares me. - amzn.to/461fvP2 Good luck.

@BitterRealityBrewing27 күн бұрын
I get where you are coming from but if you take a moment you can see they actually have several targets: Keep in mind it isn't a "Brewing System", but a "Ferment and Serve" system. The same way "Brewing Systems" aren't "Ferment and Serve" systems. 1. The person who just wants to buy 5L Kegs and serve it. 2. The entertainer or host of course from Beer, Cider, Kombucha, Wine, to Seltzer. 3. The person that has a small space and simply doesn't want to go deep into the home brewing knowledge level. 4. The dedicated home brewer that loves to experiment and wants to do it on a small scale with minimal labor.
@BitterRealityBrewing27 күн бұрын
I feel you, as I'm starting to have a lot of fun experimenting. I have an upcoming video where I just used to pots and a colander to brew a Tripel that is in the iGulu now, being enjoyed.
@donaldgarrell546727 күн бұрын
@@PIGGY789 can you explain how you experiement with this? Its a kit with instructions you follow. The benefit to normal extract brewing is that it gets you involved in the process this doesn't At all. It over complicates something that doesn't need to be complicated. This proudct restricts experimentation and learning. This is the microwave version of brewing beer.
@PIGGY78927 күн бұрын
@donaldgarrell5467 The Igulu is not just for brewing kits, for example I am currently enjoying a Hopped hard cider, made with apple juice and hop pellets, previously I've done a hazy pale ale with DME and Citra hop pellets, I know it's not for everyone but I love it because I don't have the time for all grain brewing at the moment, but hopefully one day I will have more time.

Hey old mate. I’ve got a very stuck fermentation. I’ve tried other kinds of yeast, high alcohol tolerant yeast etc. I’ve worked with temperature and adding oxygen into the wart. Ptiching a bug is a Brett or like bacteria that would eat the sugar, but usually it is with a yeast to help with the ABV. My more recent joke, is to call it a sweet beer and use it for cooking.

the most valuable option of czech pils are "pitelnost", or translate as "drinkeness?"...the property to drink more and more beer....the beer is not hard, is just for drink against thirsty....and after first, you drink second, and third, and after fifth, you realize that this beer is very "pitelne"....you have to go to Czech republic to find the real czech beer culture... :)

@BitterRealityBrewingАй бұрын
Yeah, I've heard that which is a lot like their fermenters, but I would expect they can easily go 4 to 5 years without issues. The big concern is holding pressure without breaking as plastic of any kind can become brittle over the years mainly due to UV exposure, which mine are exposed to as little as possible without keeping them in the dark. (The garage area is 100% LED lighting which stays off, unless I'm in there.)

Your not going to want to keep your beer on the yeast cake or dry hops. It's going to cause off-flavors. Unless I'm misunderstanding something in how these work.
@BitterRealityBrewingАй бұрын
It is only 1 gallon and the company doesn't suggest over 1 month. I've started just transferring the beer to another 1 gallon keg, which is extremely easy to do and quick. As for the dry hopping, I fully agree after the 3 to 7 days based on your preference (I like 3 to 5 days),. I would always recommend transferring to another pre-purged keg.
