Fuck the bin cages! A wire cage is better for the Hamster's health.

All hamsters climb the cage bars. Sorry my cage is 31and a half inch long and 27 inches wide.This cage isn't too small for my syrian hamster.

My hamster escaped and when I put him back it went crazy. Hours it destroyed its cage, when it’s usually very tidy. It even clogged its tunnel that leads to bigger cages. It wouldn’t even take from from my hand. It’s always does. It was just really mad. Also for some reason it won’t leave the small cage. It primary next is there and it’s used to the water bottle. I’m scared if I just take away the small cage that it won’t understand how to use the other water bottle or be stressed because its house is not gone. But maybe I should just remove the smaller cage.

unfortunately some people are impulse buyers and don't consider the pro's and con's of keeping hamsters ......that is how i acquired two hamsters [ a russian and a robo hamster in two pets at home cages ] . a neighbour had bought these for a 7yr old and a 5 yr old child to keep in their bedrooms and after a month or two she asked if i would take them as the children were not seeing the pets and had lost interest and she did not want or have time to look after them , this is how thor [ russian ] and skylar [ robo ] came to live with me .

It's sad because often times this is the case when it comes to hamsters, it is amazing how quickly someone can loss interest in these pets and a lot of it is due to improper research before getting a hamster.

boredom breakers are an ideal way to entertain and stimulate the hamster inside the enclosure as well as diy toys and hides , even a dish containing leaves and forage and a few seeds can be very enriching too .

This video is amazing, I’ve shared it because the detail about the rodent mills ext is brilliant. I have 2 hamsters Ronnie and Reggie they both are Syrians, Ronnie I adopted from someone as he was an unwanted pet and Reggie is a pedigree I bought from a reputable breeder. Ronnie is my second rescue, my first Mrs pepper pot I adopted through a hamster charity 😊

@@JohnsAnimals oh thank you, I was told that Ronnie was quite aggressive, he was un hand able plus he bar bit when I got him and his living conditions were pretty bad to. It’s funny because he is the sweetest little hammy, he loves coming out and having cuddles running around exploring things and both of mine are very spoilt 😂. It just shows if you neglect an animal you don’t get to know it or build a bond up. I feel blessed that he’s in my care and I’m a very lucky lady to have him.

I know I'm too late to get any advice but maybe someone will see this at some point and be able to give their 2 cents. My hamster is a 6 month (or less) old Syrian, I got him about a month ago from pets at home. Im experienced with hamsters, as he is my 4th one, and so he has an amazing life. He has a Savic Hamster Heaven cage (80x50x50cm) with a full on penthouse suite, with loads of toys that he interacts with more than hamsters usually do. I feed him a balanced diet, with the right amount of fresh food and little pieces of fruit every now and then, and I get him out every evening. He has rigorous exercise daily - every evening while I do homework in my room, I have him with me running round the floor - with plenty of opportunities to run, climb, etc. He loves it. Every time I put him back in his cage he is reluctant, and I often find him in the morning or early evening chewing the bars very aggressively - he rolls around on his back whilst chewing the door of his penthouse suite style nest, and when I open the door, he is eager to come out into my hands. I am at a complete loss of how to help him - he definitely has enough room (I hate those tiny cruel cages) and plenty of stimulation. He's actually quite a slow, gentle giant and is happy to just sit in my hand and be stroked. plot twist: midway through writing this, I have realised that my hamster is a girl. The other day my friend said 'how do you know it's a boy' and I, having previously not questioned it due to the large hairy bum that I assumed were balls, brushed it off. I have just checked. Surprise! she's a girl. -final reason is that she's escaped before through her penthouse suite door. She managed to push it open and get out, and since then I've secured the door shut with a rubber band. Maybe she just thinks if she's done it before she can do it again. (this has happened before - one time she managed to push a literal door open just so she could explore a small storage room). I really am left in a rut, not sure why she's like this. If anyone has any ideas they would be appreciated!!
@JohnsAnimals
@JohnsAnimals 3 ай бұрын
First off I just want to apologise for taking so long to reply. I know you are saying she has enough room but that's the tricky part each hamster is going to have individual preference as well, I really think this hamster is just a bit more sassy that most would be 😂 puts me in mind of one of my hamsters when I first started this channel.. Peaches She had a big personality and if she wanted something she would be sure to let me know about it.. Im Intrested in if you have found a solution or not? If not I'd look into a potential bigger cage or even a DIY one they usually work out better value for money 🤑.

I've just bought a roborovski dwarf hamster - female and I already have a male Syrian and his testes seems to engorge when he's near her .. is it even possible that he could possibly mate with her and have babies!!?
@JohnsAnimals
@JohnsAnimals Жыл бұрын
No, they are two different species of hamsters Species One - Syrian Species Two - Roborovski Dwarf Interspecies breeding would Lead to so many complications worst case being death, these should not ever be allowed near one another as they will just fight and the Syrian will most likely come out strong in the end due to its size.

Hello, I am so stressed now. It's been two weeks since my hamster fell in the pipes, which is around 5 meters low or so. The apartment owner wouldn't allow the plumbers to open the pipes from the 1st floor, so instead, they made a chain and stairs for him to climb up. Do you think he will slide when he holds the chain to climb up? And what other things I could do to help him climb up? 😢
@JohnsAnimals
@JohnsAnimals 2 ай бұрын
I am so sorry it has taken me this long to get back to you (I had been away from youtube for a long time) Hamsters are amazing climbers so it is entierly possible that could have worked, they are also great adventurers also so its possible that the hamster was no longer anywhere near the chain and had gone on adventuring. Just as its been so long did you ever get him back?

I've had one for almost a year now. Pros: easy to set to your cat's microchip, literally the push of a button. My kitten learned it quickly and generally we have no problems. My other two cats stopped trying to get into it but I was careful to specifically deter them from butting in as I understand that can be an issue. Cons: the "training" function that only opens the door part way is easily accidentally activated due to the proximity of the open button, causing problems with the door to open properly. There is no simple way to deactivate it. A switch would be better than a push button. My model is battery only. There is no option to plug it in, and 100% reliance on batteries is a sketchy prospect. The concept is great and it serves the purpose well but expect that it will always have drawbacks until the company invests in a continuing consumer feedback and improvement cycle. 7/10
