He was fired because of 'political correctness'. The expression 'it's a man's game' was commonly used to describe a certain type of aggressive football, such as characterised the old 1st Division in the '60's to the '80's. It was not used to denigrate women, or women's football, in fact it had nothing to do with it, as women's football was virtually non-existent at the time. Unfortunately the women who took offence at Souness's remarks were too stupid to understand that he was not demeaning women's football by them, merely referring to an 'old school' brand of men's football, that has more or less been lost in the modern era.

These women that make such a fuss should be grateful for players of Graeme's stature. The women's sport has been heavily subsidised by the mens and now not only are we bombarded by media coverage of their sub standard football they are allowed to comment on the man's game for which they are woefully inadequate. Graeme was not only recognised as a top class footballer he speaks from donkeys years experience. His remarks "it's a mans game" referred to the game he was commenting on and was in no way offensive.

Emi loved Arsenal and waited years and years for a chance but they never loved him back. Villa swooped in and the rest is history. We love him and he loves us back. My nephew spotted him at a service station and he took a selfie with Emi. I may be biased but he's the best in the world for me.

Russell Martin is probably England's next managerial hope, uses very un-english managerial tactics that you'd be more used to seeing in a team from Spain or Netherlands. Funnily enough the english media criticise him a lot because his possesion based football is "boring". He'll get a shot at the premier league if he manages to bring Southampton back first try. He's only 38 so he's got plenty of time on his side.
