As a Reading fan, I miss having aldershit about. Hope they get back to the football leagues.

Give me back the old days anytime, remember watching Aldershot v Bristol rovers it was a Sunday match, we were 3-0 down at half time only to lose 3-2 if only we had 10 more minutes we came back so strong. Today's Aldershot is inconsistent with results.

I once scored on Deepdale for Bolton Schools against Preston Schools way back in the day. It took about 6 week for the skin to recover on my knees off that astroturf. Love it. Great days.

An important bit of history captured. As a Macclesfield supporter I know exactly how this feels firsthand. I wished I'd gone to Aldershot with Macc but it never fell right for me. I finally made a visit to the Recreation Ground this season. Although I have never had any connection with Aldershot their folding left a real impression on me as a young child. I never thought a football club could just close down. I just imagined that they'd always be there, they'd go on forever. By coincidence some years later I found out a family friend who supported Lincoln City had been at the final Shots home game and had bought a T-shirt (1991/92 Tour of Britain with the fixtures on) as a gesture to help pay the players. Some of his fellow fans were winding up the home support but he always thought such things were beyond the pale. He gave me the t-shirt and I still have it. Having heard the Recreation Ground might be rebuilt soon I thought best not to wait any longer. Great old style ground and atmosphere in the East Bank. Everything we mythologise about old school football is still there, I hope it doesn't get lost in modernisation.

Wow! Thank you so much for posting this, you've made my year. I was on that game with Dad.. West Stand paddock, leaning on the Thompson Fruit board. First home defeat maybe? of an exciting season, following the one before. That said, the reelection season means so much to me. Dad had a season ticket and we never missed a home match. I wouldn't swap that season for anything in the awful Premier League. Thanks Dad, Harold True, so proud of you for your support that season. Thank you again for posting this.

It has to said that Tranmere, Birkenhead, is the biggest dump anywhere in the UK. Nobody around there speaks English, the whole place is run down and on match day you get groups of wannabe hooligans asking you if "your mob", whomever they are, are "lookin for it." (Loose translation obviously). It's the sort of place where you just know that it's never going to get any better because the people there can't think outside their miserable box......

I’m lucky enough to have scored in front of the East Bank. It was in a Mark Francis Memorial Trophy game in 1997, when I was playing for Aldershot Town Supporters Club (with Kappadeano). I scored past Mark Butler despite having Andy Nunn (in my wake) trying to pull my shorts down! 🤘🏻🤣 23 appearances, 18 goals that season - just saying 🤟🏼😃👏🏻

The Rymans Premier were great times. It was a real Eye opener of how good decent local football was.I might be biased but I really think teams played better against us.I did the radio for BBC Surrey in 98 our first year Ryman Premier year.I remember I had to interview George in his office after the final game.Personally I thought all said and done finishing 7th wasnt too bad.George thought differently. My perfectly worded questions ? were met with a one word No or shall we say interview stoppers.I froze and gave up.Looking back at it ofcourse he was right.I think the listeners would have appreciated the direct no messing replies from George.
