There's always a reason for a horses bad temper. I'd first suspect pain. With regards to John Henry it was he hated being cooped up. It could have been a bad experience as a young horse that the horse holds a grudge and never forgets. Most of the time, no one will take the time to figure the horse out. They are so much smarter than we give them credit for, as all animals are.

I will never forget the day my high school choir was at state in HOT Springs Ar when A friend of mine and I met two young men. We walked and talked for a few hours and this one super nice young man explained to me he was in HS actually training to be a horse jockey!.. Since I loved horses and grew up around them I was very taken back by this boy!.. We exchanged ph numbers but never saw or spoke again after that nightll!..Later in life I was married w two children and will never forget hearing about the results of a horse race in HOT Springs where they said Pat Day was the winning jockey that day .. Oh My !..It IS a small world isn't it??..

Ridden to the Breeder's Cup winners circles by Pat Day , that is.Dance Smartly became Champion 3 yr. old filly in 1991. Sky Classic older Turf Male, 1992. Wow..what a ride for Pat Day and all of us Samson Farm Stables Crew in Ocala, FL. Those bonuses paid my college tuition at the University of Florida (graduated in '94, highest honors). Thank you Pat Day. and praise our Lord for keeping you in the game for so many years.

Dance Smartly, Sky Classic , the two champions that put bonuses in my paycheck as a morning rider for SamSon Farms Racing were both ridden to the breeder's Cup winner's circle in 1991-2. Want to find a class act every day, day after day on the track...find Pat Day. What a true blessing to the thoroughbred racing industry. AMEN.

If I were on the market for a racehorse and had money to burn, I would be keeping in mind a model of American Pharaoh's running action and use that as a "model." I know you are retired from training now, Gary, but it would sure be interesting to go to a sale with you! How reliable is it to list the "good walkers," the striders. Does that consistently translate or carry over on to the race track?

this a very very funny video ,, the majority of his purchases in the last 10 years he bought for 40k or less I always threw them out when I was betting 2 years old races in New York they all turned out to be awful his winning percentage overall 5% he was terrible. his 5 % winning record out of 100 is terrible ,,, But he tells a good video ,,,,his owners are just throwing away their money paying the day rate on his 2 years olds purchases they lost a ton of money

It’s sad and gratifying to see these great race horses run their races and a few years later you see them in retirement a little bit older. I’m so happy there are farms that take wonderful care of them. Thank you.
