Poor to me is inner city slums, Indian Reservations that DON'T have casinos, and farm life beyond the reach of public utilities. Being a Minimalist isn't the same as being poor. I don't know anyone who chooses to be poor as a way of life. I mean, when Oliver Wendell left NYC for Green Acres, he didn't leave his money behind. But I didn't come here to poo-poo this content, because I agree, this is the kind of "poverty" America should have, but with more BIPOC, if we're honestly trying to be fair and real.

Your videos are not getting views because your SEO performance is very bad. you should do proper SEO on title, description, and Tag section before uploading any videos. Do you know about SEO or how to do this? If you want I can help you with that

My wife and I are retired! Worked our entire lives. We have money in the bank and a beautiful home! We do all these things. We have several dressers that we've stripped and refinished! We are thrifty as hell!! Save where ever we can. I fix our vehicles, fix our house, my wife sews our clothes, cleans things back to new! I guess we're poor!! And have one heck of a garden every year! We have 4 kids and 4 grand kids! A of us are close!! Doesn't make you poor it makes you smart and a good person! Stupid video!

Thank you very much for commenting on my video. I agree with you on most part. Many of these things I was surprised when did the research to make this video too. I found a lot of these things happen in rich residences as well.

This is one of the most questionable videos I've ever seen. Starting with the first, "Homemade toys", which features Play dough (purchased) and a bunch of plastic toys, none of them homemade. None of the residences looked "poor" to me --- they looked pretty nice! The used furniture did not look used, it looked new. Heirlooms are passed along in many families, rich as well as poor. Where in the world do people have community gardens like the one shown? And as for strong family bonds in poor families ---bunk! I know plenty of poor families who are dysfunctional, and you know what the #1 cause for divorce is? Yep, financial problems.

Well said. I've been to many poor households and have not seen one of the things mentioned. Those homes are mostly filled with cheap, low quality tat, brand new devices (including the biggest tv they can get) and not one book in sight. Most poor people lack imagination, do not care for family heirlooms and look down on anything handmade or second-hand. There's a saying that goes something like - poor people have large TV's, rich people have large libraries and I think it's true.

You forgot to include the home itself. Everyone shown here all live in new homes. That's not realistic. If a person can fix cars then they also will be driving an older car which is paid for. Also their old house will probably also be paid for from all the car payments they never had to make. I drive a 1987 Chevy pickup I have owned for 32 of those years and it has 303K miles on it. It has been repainted, seat re-upholstered and engine rebuilt. It still has the original alternator, never had to be replaced. The trans. has never been rebuilt.

@@caroldannenberg9778 Actually, the information is generally correct. My grandparents are among the first generations to be born-free in my family, and this is how they made it in Deep South Georgia under Jim Crow. The images, on the other hand, are not representative of what I would consider poor folks. But then, they could be poor people in Martha's Vineyard. The frame of reference isn't clearly defined.

Second-hand furniture: Extremely practical, and beats the heck out of chip-board and contact-paper modern cheap furniture. If it lasted that long, it's very likely to last even longer. So much of it winds up in charity thrift stores due to modern kids not knowing what they inherit and the charities providing pickup/removal. I've even identified an 1832 sofa at a thrift shop! Nobody bought it...

I assume you bought it. If not you should. I have 2 cane bottom chairs from @ 1875. I sat in one and the bottom fell out and I found a guy to repair it. He did a good job for $75 I think.

@angelabluebird609 No, what I meant was that they can be found in ALL homes. Rich, poor, and every flavour in-between. That is why it's a crock to say 'the poor' have them. Sorry for the confusion.

I am sorry for the confusion. This video is focus on what commonly found in a poor residence but that doesn't mean it only in the poor residences. Some rich residence have them too especially the first generation that is wealthy. They usually have poor path before they make it and it make them more sentimental to them. Thank you very much for your input, I will try to avoid any confusion in the future.
