I’ve lived in Amarillo, Texas since 1980 and have traversed NE New Mexico many times. I now have a visit to the Tri Corners areas on my to-do list. The dinosaur tracks that were mentioned can be seen at Clayton Lake State Park, a few miles north of town. The dormant volcano, Mt. Capulin National Monument, is also worth a look.

Five months to build the railroad including tunnels. Today we can't get a few miles of highway completed in five years using modern equipment. I guess we could learn something from that generation.

Also if you had driven 34 more miles north you could have seen the three states marker for Oklahoma, New Mexico and Colorado. When you get there you can hike about 200 yards Northeast in the pasture and see the original marker that was placed there I believe in the 1870's. At that time they were surveying with a wagon wheel and a sextant, (the wagon wheel is true I am not for sure on the sextant).

At 16:06 when you walk out on the bridge, and if you look at Google street view, you can see that the asphalt was in very bad condition, and in your video they've ground it off to prep it for new asphalt.

Awesome video...going back in time, history lessons and deadpan humor (the cafe owner "re-tired" as showing old tires and the same owner shooting a rat inside the building as normal behavior!) all in one! 👍

Im a native (Northern) Californian then moved to SoCal for 13 years and now I’ve lived in AZ the past decade. Your videos are striking a chord with me with each mile. Fantastic stuff. I’d love to see some NorCal stuff too. Gold Country HWY49 and along HWY101 + HWY 1 between Santa Barbara and Monterey/San Francisco - if you’re looking for ideas for new adventures. Keep bringing them. I keep watching. Thanks for doing these.

I've probably spent more time on route 66 than anyone you'll meet. In Northern AZ. I used to sit on a bench on route 66 in Williams, Az throughout my teens and talk to tourists from all over the world that were heading to the grand canyon. I lived right on route 66 in both Williams and Flagstaff in my 20's and 30's. I even have a route 66 sign tattooed on my forearm. I saw many things and met many people on that old road. Good times.

at 16:20 it looks like they took the asphalt surface off the bridge, my guess would be they were going to either re asphalt it at one point or they did it to reduce the weight of the bridge on the old timber holding it up.

Welcome to the neighborhood, dude! I live in Portland and would move to Astoria in a heartbeat. I think it's cool you had family in the area. Don't forget Fort Stevens, the Peter Iredale ship wreck and Fort Columbia on the Washington side. I hope you're having a great time!

some people see the desert as a waist land, OTHERS like me see the desert as un-screwed up land.. thing that can live in the desert are stronger then the city stuff. ME, i will take the desert over the screwed up brach. AND, don't get me started on traffic and malls. side note i worked up at Edwards Air Force Base. and you could see all the stars most nights.

Your road trip videos are great and a blast to watch. I drove to Oatman back in the early 2000's but up from the Bullhead City side. The other side up from Kingman looks seriously _SKETCH!_
