It's the story of Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for sinners! What a beautiful way of telling this story! Magical!! What a genius writer! I loved this story.

Pwyll is pronounced "Pwythh" with a stronger emphasis on the H and the L is barely if at all annunciated. Same with Glyn Cuch, "Keethh". Nobody expects you to speak the language like a pro, but at least try with the proper nouns.

How can you say that Pwyll is pronounced 'Pwythh'? There's no 'th' sound in the word at all. It's uniquely Welsh (and I suspect you're not) and is an aspirated 'L'. David Reid gets it almost right. He just needs the 'wy' to be sounded (a very short 'oowee' sound). Same with Cuch -- no 'th' sound at all. Pronounced like the 'ch' in the Scottish 'loch'. You could at least try with the proper nouns yourself...

Why isn't the mabinogion in the Welsh folk law section as it's a really really old Welsh book that a Spanish women translated as Evan the Welsh couldn't figure out the older Welsh dialect. Took a Spanish women who was essentially a professional linguist (think that's the right word anyway lol)

I'm so sorry about my pronunciation......I grew up in Pembrokeshire in a Grammar School that taught French and Spanish but no Welsh !

i don't understand the concept of "only a mother can give a baby a name" anyone can give anyone and anything any name at any time and for any reason, people do it literally all the time, and what if the mother dies during labor? why can't the father give a name? why wouldn't the father take naming precedence for that matter? such bewildering social mores the ancient welsh seemed to have had

My personal take is that bluedwedd never wanted to wed they simply assumed since lleu had an awful mother replacing her with a woman made of flowers would have sufficed and so she loved gronw as an equal not as an ersatz caregiver.
