This video was great! I actually will try to implement this because even though the geolocation functions I do have are for Admin only, it would be great to release to the wild and have users have access to it with speed.

I am trying to understand 2 points 1. Performance: Which 1 is expensive, Performing JSON operations on mysql or in my backend code 2. Cost: Lets assume we need RDBMS but to store json data if we are using MongoDB then, Is MongoDb will be costly over Mysql if we plan to keep json data into MongoDb instead of Mysql? One thing that I've never seen addressed fully in any video relating to sharding is the issue of how best to manage relationships. You can't do joins across shards, so all of that gluing together has to be done in memory. That's fine. But say you have a members table like in your example, but they can have many "orders". The number of orders will likely exceed that of the members table so they'll need to be sharded as well. So the question becomes: do they need to exist on their own sharded instance, how do you choose their sharding key? I'm sure there are questions relating to this that I'm not thinking of, but that's the gist of it.

Right now we don't expose all of the functionality to handle sharding from the dashboard, BUT it is actively being worked on ;)

Honestly thought that the setup was overly complicated to push people to use PlanetScale, but oh wow if you don't use Docker or Kubernetes it's actually a mess to setup.
