Lived here for 40 years. West side has more newer homes than the east side. Good Hospitals, good fire department coverage, good access to express ways, and trains. Lots of restaurants to choose from. Good schools. 1/2 hour drive in all directions to local jobs. 1 hour to Chicago. 1/2 hour to Ohare airport, 1hour to Mid Way airport, and 1 and a 1/2 hours to Milwaukee airport. Diverse population. I have lived on both sides of the river.

Born and raised in Gary, IN. I lived in Chicago for 12 years. Right now, I live in Seattle. However, I will be moving back to Chicago within 5 years. I miss Chicago. I try to visit every year. So many things to do. Again I miss Chitown

Hi Xavier, what I meant was that many Chicago residents are moving out of the inner city and to the suburbs. The overall population has only declined slightly but some areas are experiencing growth!

My parents moved out of Elgin 2 yrs. ago. Nobody spoke English on their block. The schools are bad. The homeless have their own little outdoor city by railroad tracks. The gangs love their guns because they shoot them off every week. What more can I say?

Crock .Boring in the suburb.. For a family ok but most , you need a car. In the city , you can get around without a car and live in less populated areas 5- 10 miles from the downtown

@@chirealestateagent I never said it's great but it is fine in non rush hours. I've lived in and around there +60 yrs. You can get around near most of the city by using a map. And unlike any suburbs created post 1945 , the city has sidewalks to safely walk to a cta transport . In Lombard , etcetera your stuck because there are no sidewalks or buses and you must walk or ride a bicycle next to cars traveling 40-60 miles per hour
